Palestinian Human Rights Report: Gaza Detainees Face Hell in Israeli Prisons

A Palestinian human rights report was issued on Wednesday, revealing the tragic conditions faced by detainees in the Gaza Strip in Israeli prisons, noting that the "Rakefet" section and the "Sde Teyman" camp represent the most prominent examples of systematic torture crimes against them.

The report, prepared by the Palestinian Prisoners' Club and the Commission of Detainees' Affairs, highlights continuous testimonies from detainees, which demonstrate the severity of the violations committed against them, especially after two years since the beginning of the genocide.

The report stated that detainees in the "Rakefet" section of Ramla prison and the "Sde Teyman" camp are subjected to harsh torture methods, as human rights teams conducted several visits to them, but the testimonies they obtained were under strict constraints.

Detainees in the "Rakefet" section described their situation as hell, as they left the visit in tears due to the threats and beatings they endured before the visit, which forced them to state that the living conditions in the section were excellent.

The report confirmed that the occupation authorities prevent lawyers from conveying any information about families or the external situation, which increases the suffering of detainees and their families.

The report also pointed out the continuation of the policy of beating and finger-breaking, and the complete isolation of detainees, as they are deprived of sunlight and allowed to go out for fresh air for only 20 minutes a day.

Detainees reported that the guards distribute sleeping mats in the evening and take them away in the morning, forcing them to sit on metal all day, while being subjected to humiliation and insults.

The report showed that detainees suffer from severe hunger, as they are only provided with small amounts of food, often inedible, which one of them described as "famine."

The report also noted that 76 detainees have died inside Israeli prisons since the beginning of the genocide on October 7, 2023, including 46 from the Gaza Strip.

According to data from the Prisoners' Club, the number of Palestinian prisoners in occupation prisons reached 10,800 by early August, including 49 female prisoners and 450 children.

The report concluded by stating that the genocide being perpetrated by Israel since October 7 includes killing, starvation, and destruction, ignoring international calls to stop these violations.
