The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor confirmed that the occupying army destroyed around 400 homes in the Al-Zeitoun neighborhood east of Gaza City over six days, by detonating them with explosive robots and bombing them with warplanes. The monitor indicated that the military attack on Al-Zeitoun, which began on August 11, is part of a declared plan by the occupying state to impose its complete and illegal control over the city.
The monitor clarified that the attack aims to displace the residents of Al-Zeitoun, estimated to number around 90,000 citizens, to isolated areas in the southern Gaza Strip. It also noted that the occupying army is using quadcopter drones to besiege residential blocks and force residents to leave under the threat of weapons.
As the occupying forces advance under heavy fire cover, the monitor confirmed that the destruction of homes has not been justified by any military necessity, as no armed clashes have been recorded in the area recently. The extensive use of explosive devices and robotic explosives confirms that the goal is not to achieve a legitimate military objective.
The monitor warned that what is happening in Al-Zeitoun, the largest neighborhood in Gaza City, falls within a systematic Israeli policy aimed at completing the crime of genocide. It also warned that the continuation of the occupation's aggression could herald unprecedented mass massacres against civilians.
Earlier, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas warned of a systematic Israeli destruction of Al-Zeitoun, indicating that this attack is part of the genocide war that the occupying state has been committing for 22 months. The movement confirmed that warplanes and artillery are systematically destroying the neighborhood.
Hamas condemned the complicity of the U.S. administration, which provided the green light for the occupying state to continue its crimes. It called on Washington to review its policies that make it a de facto partner in the genocide war.
The movement urged the international community, the United Nations, and Arab and Islamic countries to take action to stop the fascist occupation's crime in Gaza City. It also appealed to the peoples of the world to rise up and pressure to stop the ongoing genocide in the Strip.
