Doctors Without Borders: Daily Injuries in Gaza Triple Amid Health Collapse

Doctors Without Borders reported that the number of injured Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip has tripled daily since the start of operations at the aid distribution centers run by the so-called 'Gaza Humanitarian Relief Foundation,' which receives Israeli and American support. This statement was made in a video message by the organization's medical coordinator in Gaza, Mohammed Abu Mughaysib, who spoke about the catastrophic situation facing the health sector in Gaza.

Abu Mughaysib pointed out that the health system in Gaza was already fragile before the aggression that began on October 7, 2023, and that what remains of it is barely functioning. He explained that the health situation has turned into a 'new horror' after food distribution points supported by the occupation became killing zones, leading to an increased daily influx of the wounded.

Since the implementation of the aid distribution plan through the 'Gaza Humanitarian Relief Foundation' on May 27, 2023, 1,924 Palestinians waiting for aid have been killed, and more than 14,288 others have been injured, according to the latest statistics from the Gaza Ministry of Health. Abu Mughaysib confirmed that many of the injured lose their lives before reaching hospitals.

He mentioned that the injured suffer from severe injuries such as amputated limbs and severe infections, requiring urgent surgery and intensive care. However, these health services are significantly affected by the ongoing aggression, as the remaining hospitals in Gaza are facing complete collapse.

Abu Mughaysib also called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and for sustainable medical and humanitarian access to save what can be saved. He emphasized that the current situation leaves no room for saving hospitals, patients, or even the future.

Since October 7, 2023, the occupying state has committed genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, and destruction, ignoring international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice. This genocide has resulted in over 61,897 deaths and 155,660 injuries, most of whom are children and women, in addition to thousands of missing and displaced persons.
