The Arab Parliament strongly condemned the announcement by the Israeli occupation government's Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich regarding the approval of the construction of 3,400 new colonial units in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem. This step comes at a sensitive time as Israeli violations against Palestinians are increasing.
The President of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed Al-Yamahi, described this step as a blatant challenge to international law and international legitimacy, pointing out that these decisions affirm the illegitimacy of colonialism. He emphasized that the Parliament firmly rejects the policy of escalating colonialism aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause.
Al-Yamahi noted that these actions represent a serious escalation of illegal colonial policies and come within a systematic policy to impose facts on the ground and Judaize Palestinian lands, undermining the chances of achieving just peace.
He also called on the international community, especially the Security Council and the parties sponsoring the peace process, to bear their legal and moral responsibilities. He stressed the need to take effective measures to stop these violations and ensure accountability for the occupation's crimes.
The Arab Parliament renewed its full support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The colonial steps taken by the occupation will only lead to further escalation and tension in the region, threatening stability and security in the Palestinian territories.
The Arab Parliament holds the occupation responsible for these actions and considers them a serious escalation of colonial policies.
