WHO calls on Israel to release its detained employee in Gaza.

The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, called on the Israeli occupation army to release an organization employee who was detained in the Gaza Strip last July. Ghebreyesus noted that more than three weeks have passed since the employee's detention, raising concerns about his health and safety.

In a post on the X platform, Ghebreyesus expressed the organization's concern regarding the health situation of the detained employee, demanding his immediate and unconditional release. He emphasized the importance of protecting humanitarian relief workers amid the difficult circumstances faced by the Palestinian people.

Last July, the residence of World Health Organization employees in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip was attacked by the occupation army, during which one of the organization's employees was arrested. This incident comes at a time when violations against Palestinians in the occupied territories are increasing.

Since October 7, 2023, Gaza has been experiencing ongoing Israeli aggression, supported by the United States, resulting in a genocide that includes killing, starvation, destruction, and displacement. These violations disregard international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to cease.

Statistics indicate that the Israeli aggression has resulted in 61,499 martyrs and 153,575 injured Palestinians, in addition to more than 9,000 missing persons. There are also hundreds of thousands of displaced individuals, leading to famine that has claimed the lives of many, including dozens of children.
