Israeli fire belts and the demolition of residential buildings in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza.

The occupying army carried out a series of airstrikes on the Al-Zeitoun neighborhood southeast of Gaza City on the night of Sunday/Monday, resulting in the destruction of several residential buildings in the area. Residents of the sector heard the explosions that shook the city.

Eyewitnesses reported that the heavy Israeli strikes caused significant destruction, although human losses have not been immediately determined. These airstrikes come at a sensitive time as tensions in the region escalate.

Our correspondent clarified that the occupying army heavily shelled and bombed the southern and eastern areas of Gaza City, exacerbating the suffering of civilians under difficult humanitarian conditions.

This escalation comes two days after the Israeli government approved a plan to fully occupy the Gaza Strip, with warnings that this step could worsen the humanitarian situation and endanger the lives of Israeli captives.

In a related context, the occupying army targeted a tent for journalists near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza with an airstrike, resulting in the martyrdom of five crew members from Al Jazeera, including journalists Anas Al-Sharif and Muhammad Qareqea, highlighting the dangers faced by journalists in conflict areas.

The military escalation followed a phone call between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump, during which they discussed the occupation plan for the Gaza Strip, raising concerns about international support for these operations.

On Friday morning, the Israeli cabinet approved a plan that begins with the occupation of Gaza City, by displacing its population of about one million to the south, indicating the intention of the occupation to carry out incursions into residential areas.

The second phase of the plan includes the occupation of refugee camps in the central sector, which have suffered severe damage due to the ongoing aggression, placing further pressure on the civilian population.
