Japan and South Korea announced on Sunday their rejection of the Israeli occupation plan for Gaza, with the Japanese Foreign Ministry expressing concern over the implications of this decision.
In an official statement, Japan confirmed that this decision could exacerbate the already deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, calling on all parties to return to negotiations and work towards a ceasefire and the release of detainees.
Japan also emphasized its opposition to any actions that could undermine the achievement of a two-state solution, reflecting its commitment to international law and human rights.
For its part, the South Korean Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern over the Israeli decision, noting that the situation in Gaza is witnessing a worsening humanitarian crisis.
In its statement, South Korea affirmed its support for the two-state solution and its opposition to any actions that hinder its realization, calling for an urgent ceasefire and ensuring the passage of humanitarian aid.
It is worth noting that the Israeli security cabinet, known as the 'kitchen cabinet,' has approved a plan to occupy the city of Gaza, which includes the displacement of its population of about one million people to the south.
The plan also involves encircling the city and conducting incursions into residential areas, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.
Since October 7, 2023, the Gaza Strip has been experiencing genocide by the occupation, with airstrikes resulting in the martyrdom of more than 61,000 Palestinians and injuries to over 153,000 others, reflecting the scale of the humanitarian disaster the region is suffering from.
Japan is deeply concerned that this decision may exacerbate the already deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza.
