The Israeli occupation army acknowledged on Sunday evening the martyrdom of Anas Al-Sharif, a correspondent for Al Jazeera in the Gaza Strip, in a new attack on journalists.
In an attempt to justify its crime, the occupation army claimed in a statement that Al-Sharif was a cell leader in Hamas and alleged that he was planning rocket launches towards the occupying state.
Earlier on Sunday evening, an Anadolu Agency correspondent reported the deaths of Al Jazeera correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Muhammad Qariqa, as a result of an Israeli bombardment targeting a journalists' tent near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.
According to information, an Israeli drone targeted a journalists' tent in the vicinity of Al-Shifa Hospital, where several Palestinian journalists were present, including Anas Al-Sharif and Muhammad Qariqa.
Al Jazeera quoted a spokesperson from Al-Shifa Hospital confirming the martyrdom of Al Jazeera correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Muhammad Qariqa due to the Israeli bombardment on their tent, highlighting the dangers faced by journalists in conflict areas.
This attack comes at a time when assaults on journalists in the Gaza Strip are increasing, prompting international calls to protect journalists and ensure their safety while performing their professional duties.
