Smotrich: I Don't Care About the People of Gaza and Want to Destroy Hamas
Smotrich confirms that victory over Hamas requires economically strangling the Gaza Strip and completely cutting off aid to it.
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich stated that his focus is not on the residents of the Gaza Strip, but rather on completely destroying the Hamas movement and achieving final victory over the resistance. He explained that the world is watching Israel, with pressure from Europe and the Israeli left to stop, but he insists on continuing until he achieves his ultimate goal.
In defending the allocation of an additional 3 billion shekels to fund humanitarian aid for Gaza, Smotrich attacked the opposition that opposed this step, asserting that complete victory is a necessity, not an option, and that Israel will achieve it despite all obstacles.
The minister emphasized that resolving the battle cannot be achieved solely through the use of tanks, but requires economically strangling the sector and cutting off aid to it, considering that these have been his plans since the beginning of the war, and that implementing them would shorten the time and avoid significant financial losses, estimating that the cost of the war on Gaza has reached 300 billion shekels so far.
Smotrich pointed out that there is hope that the security cabinet (the cabinet) will decide to launch an extensive attack and occupy the sector, asserting that without military resolution and imposing an economic blockade, victory or the liberation of prisoners cannot be achieved. He confirmed that this is the only way to achieve the declared objectives.
The cabinet is scheduled to hold a meeting tomorrow, Thursday, to discuss the plan to occupy Gaza, despite the opposition of the Chief of Staff of the occupation army, Eyal Zamir, who described the plan as a strategic trap, warning of its potential consequences for Israeli security.
