Settlers attack the Bab al-Rahma cemetery in occupied Jerusalem.

Ahmad Awad Samrin, a member of the Bab al-Rahma Cemetery Committee and a member of the Silwan clans, confirmed that the Bab al-Rahma Cemetery is witnessing the "largest fierce attack" by settlers, in a continuous context of violations targeting Islamic sites in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

Samrin explained that "this is not the first time the cemetery has been targeted; we have previously witnessed repeated attempts to cut parts of it, open Talmudic pathways, in addition to attempts to dig a base for the 'cable car' project, which poses a direct threat to the sanctity of the cemetery and its historical and religious significance."

He pointed out that the Bab al-Rahma Cemetery, located on the eastern side of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, is one of the oldest Islamic cemeteries in Jerusalem, dating back over 1400 years, and contains the graves of several companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, as well as prominent figures in Islamic history.

Samrin emphasized that these violations are part of ongoing attempts to erase the Islamic and Arab identity of the city, calling on official and popular bodies to take urgent action to protect the cemetery and uphold the sanctity of the deceased and the rights of the living to defend their holy sites.
