The Occupation's Escalation in Gaza Exacerbates the Humanitarian Crisis Amid International Efforts for a Ceasefire

The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip continues for the 668th day, with a catastrophic deterioration in the humanitarian situation, as massacres and the severe siege imposed by the occupation on the population continue, leading to the death toll rising to over 60,839 since the beginning of the aggression in October 2023, and more than 149,588 injured. The population suffers from famine and malnutrition, with airstrikes continuing in areas close to aid distribution centers, despite the occupation's claims of providing "safe passages."

The Gaza Ministry of Health announced the martyrdom of 6 Palestinians in the past 24 hours, including children, due to famine and malnutrition, in addition to 35 other martyrs who fell to the occupation's fire while waiting for aid distribution. The death toll from famine in the sector stands at 175 martyrs, with ongoing interruptions in medical relief lines and difficulty accessing victims, as many bodies remain under the rubble.

In the context of the escalation, Hebrew media revealed communications between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss a plan that includes a comprehensive ceasefire in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners, disarming the resistance, and placing Gaza under international administration led by the United States. However, disagreements within Hamas hinder reaching a final agreement, as the movement demands the proper entry of aid before returning to negotiations.

The humanitarian coordinator at Oxfam described the situation as "real genocide," noting that the occupation prevents the entry of food and medical aid, and even prevents UN staff from assessing the deteriorating humanitarian situation, which increases the suffering of children and women and threatens the lives of many from hunger and disease.

While Israel continues its military operations, Hamas officials confirmed that any agreement must include the entry of aid, amid ongoing international pressure from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey on the movement. The U.S. envoy is making efforts to organize a deal to end the war, but Hamas's refusal to concede its core demands complicates reaching a final solution, amid ongoing bombardment and aggression.

In the last 24 hours, 18 citizens were martyred, including 13 aid seekers, and many were injured, with direct targeting of civilians in several areas, especially in the northwestern sector. The suffering of the population increases with the continued siege and starvation, while hopes for a political settlement remain slim, amid ongoing military operations and continuous aggression.
