Israel has arrested more than 18,000 Palestinians in the West Bank since the beginning of the aggression against Gaza in October 2023
A joint Palestinian report released on Sunday revealed that Israeli occupation forces have arrested approximately 18,500 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since the onset of the aggression against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023. This report comes from the Palestinian Authority for Prisoners and Released Prisoners, the Palestinian Prison Club, and the Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association.
The report indicated that Israeli army forces carried out extensive arrest operations during their aggression in the West Bank, which included the arrest of those who remained detained, in addition to those who were later released, according to the agency's correspondent. It clarified that the number of prisoners in occupation jails reached about 10,800 prisoners by the beginning of July, including 49 women and 450 children, which is the highest number since the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000.
The report also noted an increase in the number of arrests among women to about 570, noting that these figures do not include women detained from the Gaza Strip, which is estimated to be in the dozens. It added that the number of arrests among children in the West Bank reached at least 1,500 cases, while more than 194 journalists have been documented as arrested, with 49 of them still in detention to date.
