Strategic Shift in Gaza Negotiations: A Comprehensive Approach to End the War and Free the Hostages
The U.S. administration is currently adopting an "all or nothing" policy to achieve tangible results in the Gaza negotiations.
The Gaza negotiations have witnessed a significant shift in U.S. strategy, as informed sources announced that President Donald Trump's administration has adopted a new policy demanding a comprehensive agreement that includes all hostages in exchange for ending the war, with key conditions including the disarmament of Hamas. This shift comes after the failure of previous partial negotiations, which resulted in the release of only 33 hostages before halting with the escalation of the occupation's military operations last March.
In a two-hour meeting in Tel Aviv, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff informed the families of the Israeli hostages that President Trump seeks a fundamental change in the negotiation approach, emphasizing that the previous strategy did not yield tangible results and that the current administration is adopting an "all or nothing" policy. He noted that the new plan holds a glimmer of hope, despite the lack of details revealed yet, considering that gradual negotiations have exhausted their purposes.
These statements come at a time of prolonged stagnation in the negotiation process, amid increasing pressure from the families of the hostages and a decline in public confidence in the effectiveness of partial deals. Earlier, the occupying Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had informed the families of the hostages that the occupation continues its efforts to bring back all hostages from Gaza, affirming that the efforts have not ceased.
Sources indicate that the Trump administration preferred from the beginning to reach a comprehensive agreement, but initially supported the interim plan of the occupying Prime Minister, taking into account the interests of the occupation. With the escalation of pressures, Washington decided to fundamentally reconsider the course of negotiations, focusing on reaching a comprehensive solution that meets the objectives of both parties and puts an end to the current crisis.
