Israel continues to target civilians in Gaza and destroy homes and humanitarian headquarters
One of our staff members was martyred and three others were injured due to the targeting of the Red Crescent headquarters in Khan Younis by the occupation forces.
Three Palestinians were killed and others injured early Sunday due to an Israeli bombardment that targeted the "Hope" school, which shelters displaced persons, and a building belonging to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip. A medical source reported that the casualties resulted from the bombardment that hit the school located in the Japanese neighborhood in the west of the city, while eyewitnesses confirmed that the bombardment targeted the building belonging to the society, leading to a fire on the first floor of the building and serious injuries to staff members.
In an official statement, the Red Crescent Society announced that one of its staff members was martyred and three others were injured due to the targeting of its headquarters in Khan Younis by the occupation forces, which led to a fire in the building and partial destruction. The society confirmed that the targeting resulted in loss of life and injuries to several staff members, as Israeli military operations continue in the area.
In the context of the escalation, the Israeli army carried out destruction operations of Palestinian homes in various areas east of Khan Younis during the night hours, causing shrapnel to scatter and reach western areas of the city, resulting in injuries among the displaced who sought refuge in safe areas. The Israeli army also continued its operations of detonating and demolishing residential buildings and facilities in the area east of the Tuffah neighborhood in the northeastern part of Gaza City, according to eyewitnesses.
Since the start of the Israeli military operations on October 7, 2023, the campaign of genocide against the Gaza Strip has continued, as Israel tightened its siege and imposed harsh measures, including closing all crossings to humanitarian, relief, and medical aid since March 2. This has led to a famine outbreak, with indicators reaching "catastrophic" levels, as the humanitarian situation deteriorates unprecedentedly.
The Israeli operations since the beginning of the aggression have left more than 209,000 Palestinians dead or injured, the majority of whom are children and women, in addition to more than 9,000 missing, and hundreds of thousands of displaced persons, with the humanitarian crisis continuing to worsen. During this period, Palestinians received limited support due to the imposed siege, which increased the suffering of the civilian population in the sector.
