A medical source in Gaza reported that hospitals in the Strip received 111 dead over the past 24 hours as a result of Israeli military fire, particularly targeting aid recipients. Meanwhile, the Gaza Interior Ministry held the occupation responsible for spreading chaos and sponsoring networks of thieves to seize control of aid trucks.
Sources in Gaza hospitals reported that 41 Palestinians were killed by Israeli army fire since dawn on Thursday, including 19 aid recipients.
Two medical sources at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital and Al-Awda Hospital had previously confirmed that 15 Palestinians were killed and others injured when Israeli forces opened fire on a gathering of people waiting for aid near the Netzarim junction in the central Gaza Strip.
Palestinians also buried the bodies of more than 70 dead killed in a bloody massacre perpetrated by Israeli occupation forces against those waiting for humanitarian aid in the Sudaniya area in northern Gaza. Medical sources confirmed that the massacre also left more than 600 people injured, most of them in critical condition.
Today, Dr. Khalil Al-Daqran, spokesman for Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, explained to Al Jazeera that hospitals are suffering from a severe shortage of medical equipment and supplies, and are receiving numerous cases of malnutrition daily amid deteriorating health and humanitarian conditions.
He added that the Israeli occupation continues to bring in aid through unsafe corridors, while the quantities reaching the Strip only meet a small portion of the growing needs.
Dr. Al-Daqran pointed out that bandits are seizing aid destined for Gaza, further complicating the humanitarian situation. He emphasized that the famine afflicting the Strip is a direct result of the Israeli occupation's practices.
In turn, Dr. Mohammed Abu Afash, director of the Medical Relief Organization in Gaza, confirmed that the occupation's massacres in the Strip are daily and relentless, and that hospitals are overflowing with the wounded. In statements to Al Jazeera, the director of the Medical Relief Organization in Gaza said, "We call on US envoy Steve Witkoff to visit the Strip's hospitals and assess the dire conditions."
For his part, Gaza Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal told Al Jazeera that a large number of aid seekers are dying as a result of direct Israeli targeting. He noted that the current method of delivering aid is impractical, emphasizing that famine is spreading daily in the Gaza Strip.
Targeting and spreading chaos
For its part, the Ministry of Interior in Gaza accused the occupation of pursuing a systematic policy of targeting security personnel tasked with securing international aid trucks, with the aim of preventing them from reaching those in need and maintaining a state of chaos.
The ministry said the occupation bears responsibility for spreading chaos and fostering networks of thieves and thugs to seize control of aid. It also works to thwart all efforts aimed at restoring order, regardless of the party behind them.
The Ministry of Interior called on the international community to pressure the occupation to stop targeting civilian personnel tasked with securing the aid trucks' routes and ensuring their safe delivery to those in need.
Today, civil society organizations in the Gaza Strip called for the prosecution of the so-called "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation," accusing it of playing a dangerous role in facilitating the war of extermination.
In their statement, the organizations said that the American organization, which operates under a humanitarian and relief cover, is implicated in the killing of more than 1,500 Palestinian aid seekers. They noted that food distribution centers in areas classified as "red" have been transformed into "death and detention camps."
Since the US- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation took over aid distribution last May, more than 800 Palestinians have been killed and thousands more injured by Israeli forces and contractors operating around designated centers.
International and UN calls have recently intensified following a significant increase in the number of starving Palestinian martyrs killed in "death traps" at aid distribution points run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which is backed by the United States and Israel.
This comes as Israel, with US support, continues its genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 205,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands displaced.
