At least nine injured in a car-ramming attack in central Israel

Seven people were injured Thursday morning after being run over by a vehicle at a bus stop on Route 57 at the entrance to the town of Kfar Yona, near the Beit Lid junction, according to Israeli ambulance crews.

Israeli media reported that the driver of the vehicle that ran over a number of people fled the scene. Police are pursuing him and investigating the incident, including the possibility that it was a deliberate act.

Police called in a helicopter for assistance, set up roadblocks in the area, and closed checkpoints leading to nearby areas in the occupied West Bank as they pursued the driver of the vehicle, who fled the scene of the attack near Kfar Yona.

Police found the vehicle used in the attack in an open area near the scene of the incident. They called in Border Guard forces and police dog squads to participate in the search and pursuit, which is still ongoing to locate the driver.

Medical teams stated in a statement that they provided initial treatment to the injured on the spot, without specifying the exact nature of their injuries. Israeli media reported that security personnel were among the wounded.

According to Israeli media reports, two of the injured were in moderate to light condition, while five others sustained minor injuries.

Reports indicated that police forces have begun investigating the incident and do not rule out the possibility of a "deliberate attack," given the presence of military sites in the area.

An initial statement issued by the police stated that they received a report of a "run-over accident at the Beit Lid junction," noting that there were "a number of injured people," and that they were investigating "the background and causes of the accident."
