Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa met today, Saturday, in his office in Ramallah, with the new Special Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Palestine, Jacco Cilliers, in the presence of Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Stephan Salameh, and Minister of Social Development Samah Hamad.
The Prime Minister welcomed the new UN representative, stressing the pivotal and important role of the United Nations Development Programme in assisting the Palestinian people, supporting development in Palestine, and developing the capacities of state institutions and institutional development.
Mustafa also stressed the need to intensify international pressure to open all Gaza Strip crossings to allow the entry of aid to meet urgent needs and halt the escalating famine plaguing the people of the Strip.
He stressed the importance of strengthening joint action with various international relief organizations operating in the Gaza Strip and the efforts exerted through the government operations room to coordinate relief efforts, in addition to coordinating urgent and emergency interventions for families affected by attacks by the occupation and its settlers in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, especially the ongoing attacks, demolition of camps, and destruction of infrastructure in the northern West Bank.
The Prime Minister pointed to the ongoing efforts and coordination with the Arab Republic of Egypt and all relevant parties regarding the holding of the reconstruction conference.
