The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has warned of an imminent collapse of the humanitarian response in the Gaza Strip, given the sharp deterioration in the situation on the ground and the ongoing Israeli aggression.
The committee said in a statement on Friday that the deteriorating security situation in the Gaza Strip is significantly hampering the work of its staff and humanitarian partners, stressing that "without immediate action, Gaza will descend into chaos that humanitarian efforts will not be able to alleviate."
She added that civilians in the Gaza Strip were left without the basic necessities needed for survival, stressing that the immediate resumption of aid deliveries was imperative, otherwise the implementation of the ICRC's programs in the Strip would be impossible.
The ICRC stressed that medical personnel and facilities must be respected and protected under all circumstances, calling for immediate access for humanitarian aid to the besieged enclave.
