The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned on Friday that the Israeli occupation's blockade of the Gaza Strip will silently kill more children and women every day, in addition to those killed by bombing.

This came in a post by UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini on the X platform, in which he stated that "children, women, and the elderly in Gaza are being collectively punished," with two months of a stifling blockade and the denial of humanitarian aid.

The UN official continued: "Israel must lift the blockade on the Palestinians and allow the flow of essential supplies into the Gaza Strip."

He highlighted that "with each passing day, the Israeli blockade on Gaza will silently kill more children and women every day, in addition to those killed by bombing."

Since March 2, the occupation authorities have closed the Gaza Strip's crossings to relief aid and fuel, resuming their genocide.

The 2.4 million residents of the Gaza Strip are entirely dependent on such aid after 19 months of genocide rendered them impoverished, according to World Bank data.

This humanitarian crisis comes amidst the displacement of more than 90% of citizens from their homes, some of whom have experienced this more than once. They now live in overcrowded shelters or in the open without shelter, which has increased the spread of diseases and epidemics.
