The Israeli ambassador to Ethiopia was expelled from the African Union summit amid widespread protests.

In a remarkable diplomatic incident, the Israeli ambassador to Ethiopia was expelled from the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa during the union's annual meeting, following strong objections from several African countries refusing his attendance.

This expulsion came against the backdrop of mounting African anger over Israeli occupation policies, particularly in light of the ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli ambassador attempted to attend one of the sessions, but was met with categorical refusal from representatives of member states, which led to his removal from the hall under heavy security.

This incident reflects the continuing tensions between Tel Aviv and the African Union, which condemned the war on Gaza at its last summit and supported South Africa's lawsuit against the occupation before the International Court of Justice, amid growing African support for Palestinian rights.
