Arab Parliament: Occupation crimes threaten international human rights conventions

The Arab Parliament affirmed that the continued Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, with impunity, coupled with international silence and double standards in dealing with these crimes, represents the greatest threat to all international human rights conventions.

In a speech delivered by MP Alawi Al-Basha, Vice Chairman of the Parliament's Legislative, Legal and Human Rights Affairs Committee, during the Arab Human Rights Day celebrations, the Arab Parliament called on the international community to take a serious stance to restore the status and respect of international humanitarian law.

He pointed out that this year's celebration of Arab Human Rights Day comes amid a painful reality in which all the rights of the Palestinian people are being violated, most notably their right to life, due to the massacres and genocidal war perpetrated by the brutal occupying entity, amidst shameful international silence that constitutes a stain on the brow of all humanity.
