His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed, on Monday, Jordan's firm position on the Palestinian cause, rejecting displacement, settlement and an alternative homeland.
His Majesty stressed that his position has not and will not change, and that the saying for 25 years has been: "No to displacement, no to settlement, no to an alternative homeland," denouncing some people's doubts about these fixed positions.
This came during His Majesty's speech when he met a group of retired comrades-in-arms at the Royal Hashemite Court, on the occasion of the Loyalty Day for Retired Military Personnel and Veterans, in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.
His Majesty the King expressed his optimism despite all the challenges, stressing that he draws strength and courage from his dear people, the brave men of the Jordanian Armed Forces - the Chosen Arab Army, the security services, and retired military comrades-in-arms.
His Majesty added that he knows the readiness of military retirees to wear the military uniform (the footik) and stand to His Majesty's right and left in the face of all challenges.
Speaking about his recent visit to Washington, His Majesty stressed that preserving Jordan's interests and stability and protecting Jordan and Jordanians are above all considerations, stressing the importance of working to rebuild Gaza without displacing our Palestinian brothers in Gaza and the West Bank.
His Majesty reiterated the importance of working to reduce escalation in the West Bank, and that achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution is the only way to achieve stability in the region.
His Majesty the King expressed his pride in his comrades in arms from the ranks of the armed forces and security services, and in their sacrifices in order to protect the homeland and preserve its capabilities, pointing to the importance of the role of military retirees and their expertise in enhancing the achievements of Jordan and its institutions.
During the meeting, His Majesty thanked the Jordanian men and women for their warm welcome upon his return from the United States.
In a speech to the military retirees, retired Major General Dr. Ismail Al-Shoubaki spoke about His Majesty the King’s continued support for his comrades-in-arms and veterans, who trust His Majesty’s leadership and wisdom in dealing with various challenges.
Al-Shoubaki praised His Majesty's keenness to achieve Jordanian interests, stand by the Arab brothers, especially the Palestinian brothers, and emphasize the supportive positions to them in establishing them on their land.
Al-Shoubaki pointed out the importance of the Hashemite guardianship of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem in caring for these holy sites.
The meeting was attended by the Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court Yousef Hassan Al-Issawi, the Director of the General Intelligence Department, Major General Ahmed Hosni, the Director of Public Security, Major General Dr. Obaidallah Maaytah, the Acting Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Assistant for Operations and Training, Brigadier General Naji Al-Manaseer, and the Director General of the Economic and Social Institution for Retired Military Personnel and Veterans, Major General Adnan Al-Raqqad.
