WFP: Food prices in Gaza have risen by more than 1,000%

The World Food Programme said that the prices of basic food items in the Gaza Strip have increased by more than 1,000 percent compared to pre-war levels.

This came in a statement highlighting the hunger crisis and the danger of continued hostilities and the Israeli siege on Palestinians throughout Gaza, especially in the north.

The World Food Programme confirmed that the hunger crisis is worsening across the Gaza Strip with rising food prices.

In the same statement, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, said, “The ongoing military operation in the northern Gaza Strip has displaced 130,000 people over the past seven weeks.”
