Mexican President Calls for Recognition of State of Palestine

Mexico's new President Claudia Sheinbaum called for recognition of the State of Palestine, in order to achieve peace in the Middle East.

"The Palestinian state must be recognized just like the state of Israel. This has been Mexico's position for many years," she said in her first statement on the subject since taking office on October 1.

During her daily press conference, Sheinbaum also condemned the violence in the Middle East, saying that "war will never lead to a good destination."
