The body of activist Aisha Nour arrives in Türkiye in preparation for her burial

The body of Turkish-American activist Ayesha Nur Ezgi Egi, who was killed by Israeli army fire during a peaceful demonstration in the occupied West Bank a week ago, arrived in Turkey on Friday, amid calls for funeral prayers in absentia this afternoon in mosques across the country.

After a ceremony held at Istanbul Airport in the presence of the city's governor, Davut Gul, and other officials, the body was transferred by plane from Istanbul to Izmir province in western Turkey.

Aisha Nour's body was transferred from Ben Gurion Airport to the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, yesterday, Thursday, and then to Istanbul this morning.

The activist is scheduled to be buried in her hometown of Didim, Aydın province, western Türkiye.

Invitations for funeral prayers

Turkish activists and civil society organizations called for holding funeral prayers in absentia this afternoon in all mosques across the country for the Turkish-American activist.

The Turkish Humanitarian Relief Organization also called for an absentee funeral prayer to be held at the historic Fatih Mosque in the heart of Istanbul on Friday afternoon.

The father of Turkish activist Mehmet Suad Egi confirmed that there is a great responsibility on the shoulders of the American government to investigate the murder of his daughter, noting that the United States rushes to rescue and lift the injustice from its citizens all over the world, unless the matter is related to Israel, according to his description.

The Israeli army killed activist Aisha Nour with live bullets while she was participating in an activity denouncing settlements in the town of Beita in the Nablus Governorate in the northern occupied West Bank on September 6.

The occupation admitted to killing the Turkish-American activist, stressing that it is "very likely" that its soldiers' fire killed Aisha Nour "indirectly and unintentionally while targeting the main instigator of the riot," according to its claim.
