Countries supporting the occupation abandon their humanity
The extremist Israeli government is seeking with all its might to harness its upcoming steps to control and annex the West Bank, prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state, and strip the Palestinian National Authority of its basic duties. This was confirmed by the extremist right-wing minister, Bezalel Smotrich, as he continued his incitement calls against the Palestinian people, and his emphasis on moving forward with implementing his plan to control the West Bank and prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state.
The extremist had stated in a post on the “X” platform, literally: “My life’s mission is to build the Land of Israel and thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state. For this reason, I have taken upon myself, in addition to the position of Minister of Finance, responsibility for civil issues in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank),” adding: “I will continue to work with all my might so that the half a million settlers in the West Bank enjoy the rights of every citizen of Israel and establish the facts on the ground.”
The extremist Smotrich and his racist bloc embodied the worst colonial settlement mentality in modern history. This is not the first time he has announced his intention to annex the West Bank and prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state. On June 23, 2024, Smotrich responded to a report published by the New York Times about his plan to strengthen Israeli control over the occupied West Bank and thwart any attempt to make it part of the Palestinian state, saying: “My plan is not a secret. I will fight with all my might the danger of establishing a Palestinian state for the sake of the State of Israel and its citizens. I will continue, through my powers, to develop settlements in the West Bank and strengthen security.”
Also, since assuming the position of Minister in the Ministry of “Security,” the head of the Religious Zionism Party has been pushing for major changes on the ground in the West Bank, to implement the “decisive plan” that he published in 2017, which aims to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state, and to present Palestinian citizens with the choice of death or emigration abroad.
The occupation's continued expansion of the circle of its war, in addition to the bloody massacres it carries out around the clock in the Gaza Strip, as well as the barbaric aggression and repeated attacks on the Palestinian cities of Jenin and Tulkarm, come as an extension of the war of genocide against the Palestinian people, and the destruction of all the components of its human existence, especially in Gaza, and turning it, according to international testimonies, into an uninhabitable place.
These ongoing massacres must stop, and an end must be put to the occupation’s policy and the oppressive and inhuman practices of its army. We cannot continue on the same path of the oppressive extremist government and continue to watch the suffering of innocent women and children in Gaza.
The violation of Gaza and the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the commission of more forms of genocide, ethnic cleansing and killing against Palestinian civilians, constitutes an official and continuous Israeli persistence and disregard for the international community, international legitimacy and its resolutions, and a deliberate rebellion against international law and international demands and appeals calling for an end to the war and humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
The silence of the international community and the countries that support the occupation and abandon their humanity cannot continue, so that their slogans and principles regarding human rights appear to be formal and fall within the framework of a blatant double standard in the conditions of their application, and commitment to them according to the identity of the executioner and the victim. They are also subject to the calculations of the interests of countries above all else, which is exploited by the extremist Netanyahu government and the racist right-wing bloc to prolong and expand the war in the West Bank, prolong its duration in order to empty the land of its population, continue all forms of racist crime, and gain more time for the ruling coalition to remain in power for a longer period.
Since assuming his position as Minister of Defense, Smotrich has been pushing for major changes on the ground in the West Bank, to implement the “decisive plan” that he published in 2017, which aims to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state and present Palestinian citizens with the choice of death or emigration.
