Hamas leader: The deportation of Palestinians from Rafah is a dangerous development

A senior leader in the Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" said, "The Israeli order to transfer residents from Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip is a dangerous development and will have repercussions."

The leader added to Reuters that the American administration bears responsibility alongside the Israeli occupation for this terrorism. According to him.

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called on Monday for the Israeli army to enter the city of Rafah, which is crowded with displaced people.

Smotrich said in a post on the “X” platform that the delay in entering Rafah and the loss of control over strategic assets in the Strip harm Israel, harm the goals of the war, harm the opportunity to return the detainees to their homes, and cost a lot of blood, he said.

He added that the Israeli army must defeat what he described as the "enemy."

Extremist Minister Smotrich is considered one of the most prominent supporters in the Israeli government of carrying out a military operation in Rafah, ignoring any international fears and warnings about the danger of this step.

For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said today that the Israeli military action in Rafah is necessary because of Hamas' rejection of proposals presented by the mediators regarding a truce in Gaza under which the movement would release some detainees.

Gallant informed his American counterpart, Lloyd Austin, of the Israeli government's decision to launch a military operation in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

According to the Ministry of Defense, Gallant explained to Austin Israel's efforts to reach broad lines for the release of detainees and a temporary ceasefire, and said that Hamas rejects any proposal that would allow this, as he claimed.

Deportation of Rafah residents

On Monday, the Israeli occupation army asked residents to leave the eastern neighborhoods of Rafah and head to the Al-Mawasi area, southwest of the Gaza Strip.

He pointed out that this process will move forward gradually based on the continuous assessment of the situation that will take place throughout.

The Israeli occupation army published on its social media accounts maps showing the deportation routes for Palestinians, most of whom were originally displaced from the northern and central regions towards Rafah due to the ongoing war during the past seven months.

In turn, Israeli Army Radio said that the start of the deportation of residents from Rafah comes shortly before the military attack on the city.

Several countries - led by the United States and Egypt, which in cooperation with Qatar are mediating between Tel Aviv and the Hamas movement - have previously called for avoiding any military operation in Rafah, which is crowded with displaced people, due to its danger, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the ministers supporting him in his government insist on the operation under the pretext that Rafah is the last stronghold of the Hamas movement and there is pressure on the negotiations process.

Israel continues the war on Gaza despite the issuance of a resolution by the UN Security Council to stop the fighting immediately, and also despite the International Court of Justice demanding immediate measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
