Qatar is discussing with Washington reducing the escalation in the region and ending the war on Gaza
The Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, discussed on Tuesday with his American counterpart, Anthony Blinken, ways to reduce the escalation in the region and end the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
This comes as the level of regional tension escalates due to Tel Aviv's threats to strike Iran, after the latter launched an attack on Israel on the night of Saturday - Sunday.
During the conversation between the Qatari Foreign Minister and his American counterpart, they “reviewed developments in the situation in the region, and ways to reduce escalation and calm, especially ending the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip since October 7.” As reported by Qatar News Agency.
The Qatari Foreign Minister expressed his country's "deep concern about developments in the situation in the region, calling on all parties to calm down and exercise the utmost restraint."
He stressed "the necessity of joint action to reduce escalation in the region and resolve disputes through peaceful means."
The US State Department reported that Blaken spoke with the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to discuss the Iranian attack on Israel.
It added that Blinken and his Qatari counterpart stressed the need to avoid further escalation.
