CNN: The rescue of two Israeli detainees in Rafah may have caused the death of 100 Palestinians

The American CNN network quoted a senior official in President Joe Biden's administration as saying that the rescue operation of two Israeli detainees in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, yesterday, Sunday, may have led to the death of about 100 Palestinians, "and we are concerned about it."

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said that Tel Aviv informed Cairo during the liberation of the two detainees in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, and assured it that the matter was an isolated event, and not the beginning of a comprehensive process.

For its part, the White House expressed its happiness with the success of the Israeli army in releasing the two Israeli detainees, and added that the crisis will not end in the Gaza Strip until the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) releases all detainees.

The White House confirmed that US President Joe Biden and members of his team continue to work around the clock to ensure and secure the release of detainees.

Regarding the military operation in Rafah, he indicated that they do not want to start it without an implementable plan and ensuring the security of civilians.

He said, "We cannot confirm the killing of civilians in Rafah, but we do not want to see any civilian deaths, whether Palestinians or Israelis, and President Biden was clear about this. We want the war in Gaza to stop, and the first steps for that are an extended truce, the removal of all detainees, and the entry of aid." ".

Freeing detainees

Today, Monday, the Israeli occupation army announced the liberation of two Israeli detainees held by the Palestinian resistance in Rafah (south of the Gaza Strip) in a night military operation, coinciding with a violent bombardment on the city that resulted in the death of at least 74 Palestinians and the injury of dozens of others, according to the Palestinian authorities.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said that the operation was carried out with the participation of the army, police special forces, and the General Security Service (Shin Bet), and with the follow-up of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and succeeded in returning the two captives, Fernando Simon Marman (60 years old) and Louis Haar (70 years old).

Gallant confirmed that the two prisoners are in good health, and were transferred for a medical examination to Sheba Tel Hashomer Hospital.

At the same time, the Air Force launched an intense wave of raids targeting the Hamas Shaboura Brigade, in order to enable the force to move to the site. There has been no response yet from the Palestinian resistance to the Israeli announcement.

In this context, Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said that the army had prepared for the operation to liberate the two captives for a long time based on intelligence information, stressing that the executing forces arrived at the place undercover, and then received great support from other forces from the Air Force.

For its part, the Israeli Prisoners' Authority said - in statements reported by Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper - that the time of the remaining detainees in the Gaza Strip is running out.

Israel announced that the total number of prisoners that the army was able to recover in exchange deals and through military operations is 126 people, including 91 Israelis, 11 bodies, and 24 foreign workers.
