The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Tuesday that 6,000 amputations have been recorded over two years of Israeli extermination in the sector, indicating that they need urgent long-term rehabilitation programs.
The ministry stated in a statement: "6,000 recorded amputation cases in the Ministry of Health need urgent long-term rehabilitation programs."
It added: "The percentage of children among the total number of amputation cases is estimated at 25 percent, and the percentage of women is 12.7 percent," noting that "the lack of medical resources and supportive tools increases the suffering of the injured amputees."
The ministry continued: "These figures reflect a deep humanitarian suffering experienced by thousands of injured individuals and their families and highlight the urgent need for rehabilitation services and psychological and social support, especially for children who find themselves facing permanent disabilities at an early age."
The ministry called on "all international and humanitarian organizations and institutions working in the field of health and rehabilitation to intensify their efforts and expand their urgent interventions to meet the needs of the injured and enable them to receive the necessary care, in line with the scale of the humanitarian disaster facing the Gaza Strip."
