Slovenian Foreign Minister: What is happening in Gaza is deliberate genocide.

The Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon stated that the shocking images of children dying of hunger in Gaza represent a direct result of 'deliberate' choices, emphasizing that the humanitarian disaster in the sector is 'man-made' and not a natural disaster.

Fajon's remarks came during her speech at the international conference on the two-state solution held yesterday, Monday, under the auspices of the United Nations and led by France and Saudi Arabia.

The minister pointed out that what is happening in Gaza amounts to the definition of 'genocide' under international law, noting that a sustainable two-state solution is the only way to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region.

She said: 'Peace cannot be achieved without a legitimate and effective Palestinian administration, which requires international support and internal reforms,' warning that 'when force replaces law, it does not produce security, but instability and extremism that extends for generations.'

Since March 2, the Israeli occupation has closed all crossings leading to Gaza, preventing the entry of food, medicine, and humanitarian aid, pushing the sector to the brink of famine, despite relief convoys piling up at its borders.

The Slovenian Foreign Minister's position aligns with a series of steps taken by her country against the occupation in recent months.

In July, Ljubljana announced a ban on the entry of Israeli occupation government ministers, Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, into its territory, a move described as unprecedented at the European Union level, in protest against the ongoing violations against civilians in the sector.

Fajon confirmed at the time that the decision aims to 'pressure Israel to stop the suffering of Gaza's residents,' stressing that her country cannot remain silent regarding the crimes committed against civilians.

In August, Slovenia escalated its measures by announcing a comprehensive ban on all forms of trade related to arms with the Israeli occupation, including import, export, and transit of weapons through its territory.

The government described the decision as 'the first of its kind for an EU member state,' clarifying that it was made independently due to the 'failure of the European bloc to adopt concrete steps despite repeated demands.'

These positions come amid rising international calls to stop the war on Gaza, where the Israeli occupation, with American support, has been committing genocide since October 7, 2023.

According to the latest statistics, the Israeli aggression has resulted in 65,344 martyrs and 166,795 injured, most of whom are women and children.

The famine imposed by the siege has also claimed the lives of 442 Palestinians, including 147 children.
