Israeli Knesset member from the 'Religious Zionism' party, Tzvi Sukkot, threatened to call for early elections if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not adopt a 'more aggressive war plan' towards the besieged Gaza Strip.
These threats came hours after sharp criticism directed at Netanyahu by the leader of the far-right party, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, for not making an immediate decision to occupy Gaza.
Sukkot, who expressed his opinion via X platform, confirmed that the current situation requires more decisive action, stating: 'If this is the situation, in my humble opinion, we need to go to elections.'
Netanyahu's government has faced accusations from the opposition for over a year of failing to manage the situation, as it rejects calls for early elections instead of the scheduled elections in 2026.
The 'Times of Israel' commented on Sukkot's post, noting that he seems to be threatening to topple the government if it does not adopt a more aggressive strategy towards Gaza.
These statements come amid rising pressure on Netanyahu from within the ruling coalition, as some members seek to take a tougher stance on the Palestinian issue.
Without an aggressive war plan for Gaza, we need elections.
