Yedioth: The Hilltop Boys are in direct contact with ministers and Knesset members

The Hebrew newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth, said today, Monday, that the settler groups that lead the violence against the Palestinians in the West Bank, known as the "hilltop boys," are in direct contact with ministers in the Israeli government and members of the Knesset.

According to the newspaper, these settlers are in almost direct contact with the advisors of the ministers, Itamar Ben Gvir, Bezalel Smotrich, and members of the Knesset.

Sources say that these extremists consider the advisors of Ben Gvir and Smotrich as their address, and communicate with them directly.

In an unusual move, yesterday, Knesset member Limor Son Har Melch of the Ben Gvir party attended a session in an Israeli court that was considering extending the detention of 4 settlers who were arrested by the Shin Bet in connection with the recent attacks.

The newspaper says that some ministers and members of the Knesset receive testimonies directly from the suspects in the events.

The newspaper believes that the reality in the West Bank is getting closer and closer to real chaos, and the pace of events is causing restlessness and inconvenience among the Israeli security system.

It quoted a senior security official as saying, "The scope of the phenomenon is increasing, and if in the past we were talking about a few dozen rioters, today there is an atmosphere of committing massacre after massacre, in a hunting manner, village after village."

The newspaper notes that since Operation Eli, in which 4 settlers were killed, settler groups have committed more than 85 incidents of Jewish national crime against the Palestinians.

The United States doubles its support for UNRWA amid Israeli incitement

Last night, the US State Department announced that support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) will be doubled this year, to $223 million.

According to the Hebrew website Ynet, this visit amounts to an increase of $16 million over last year's amount, making Washington the largest donor to UNRWA, after the administration of former US President Donald Trump had stopped funding the UN organization.

Since the era of current US President Joe Biden, his administration has transferred nearly a billion dollars.

The Hebrew website tried to raise the issue that this support comes in light of what it claimed was incitement in UNRWA textbooks.

He referred to previous US statements, the latest of which was Assistant Secretary of State for Middle East Affairs Barbara Leaf, who said before the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US House of Representatives last week, that the State Department is aware of reports about incitement to violence against Israel in UNRWA textbooks, and that it is following up on that with the competent authorities.

A petition calling on Biden to intervene to stop the Israeli attacks

Dozens of American organizations have signed a petition calling on President Joe Biden's administration to intervene to stop the "massacres of Israeli settlers" against Palestinians in the West Bank, following their criminal attacks against citizens and their property.

In their petition, the institutions indicated that the settler attacks take place under the protection of the occupation army, as the police and army protected the settlers as they stormed the villages and towns of Al-Laban Al-Sharqiya and Turmusaya, north of Ramallah, assaulting citizens and destroying their property.

The Biden administration called for taking a stand in light of the occupation government’s move to expand illegal settlements, and to support the protection of the Palestinians and the application of the “Leahy” law to Israel, and this would ensure that “no money” from US military funding to Israel would be used to pay for the military detention of children. 11 people were killed in Russian raids on northwestern Syria

At least 11 people, including seven civilians, were killed as a result of raids by Russian warplanes on areas in northwestern Syria controlled by opposition fighters, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Sunday.

"Six civilians were killed... as a result of the air raids on Jisr al-Shughur, west of Idlib," Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP, in addition to "three military (opposition fighters) in Russian air strikes today on the bridge area" in the same province.

A member of the Civil Defense Council in Idlib, Ahmed Yaziji, said that the raids led to the fall of "nine martyrs," without specifying whether the fighters were included in the toll.

The Observatory and an AFP correspondent at the scene confirmed that the bombing hit a market for vegetables and fruits.

Yaziji considered, "This targeting is a direct targeting of the popular market, which is a basic source of income for farmers."

In addition, Abdul Rahman indicated that a civilian and a fighter were killed in a raid on the outskirts of the city of Idlib, explaining that 30 people were injured as a result of the air raids on Sunday.

It is likely that the number of victims will rise due to the presence of "serious cases" among the injured.

The Observatory's director said that the Russian raids came in response to drone attacks over the past week that killed four civilians, including two children.

Since 2011, Syria has been witnessing a bloody conflict that has killed about half a million people, caused massive destruction to infrastructure and productive sectors, and led to the displacement of millions inside and outside the country.

Since 2015, Russia has provided direct military support to President Bashar al-Assad's forces, which has allowed it, coupled with support also provided by Iran and other allies, to regain control over large areas of the country.

Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) controls about half of Idlib's area and limited adjacent areas from the governorates of Hama, Aleppo and Latakia. The region is home to three million people, the majority of whom are displaced.

Since March 2020, a cease-fire has been in force declared by Moscow, an ally of Damascus, and Turkey, which supports the fighting factions, after a massive attack by the regime forces, during which they managed to control half of Idlib.

The region witnesses from time to time mutual shelling by several parties, as well as raids by the regime forces and Russia, although the ceasefire is still holding to a large extent.

The province has been witnessing, for days, an exchange of shelling at the contact lines, which has resulted in deaths and injuries, including civilians.

Washington suspends support for projects in West Bank settlements

Today, Sunday, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that the US administration decided to return to the decision to stop all forms of cooperation and financial support for projects in settlements in the West Bank.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation stated, "The American administration decided to return to the decision to stop all forms of cooperation and financial support for scientific, technical and technological projects in settlements in the West Bank."

The authority quoted official sources as saying that "the new decision constitutes a reversal of the decision of the administration of former US President Donald Trump, which legitimized the official US authorities to support projects in the settlements."

And the decision of the administration of US President Joe Biden came to constitute an annulment of the Trump administration’s decision and a return to work according to the Obama administration’s decision, given that the United States considers the West Bank occupied lands and settlement therein is illegal.

The peace process between Israel and the Palestinians has been stalled for years, due to Israel's continued construction of settlements on the lands of the West Bank, which the Palestinian side rejects, and stresses that settlement represents a major obstacle on the path to peace.

The American position and the disintegration of the occupation army and settlers

Nihad Abu Ghosh

Nihad Abu Ghosh

Opinion Writer

The American administration continues to issue rhetorical positions that are not worth a single red penny regarding the comprehensive attack launched by all the occupation tools, including the army, settlers and other state institutions, on everything that is Palestinian: land, people, sanctities, resources, authority, people and national rights.

The United States continues to launch vague public rhetoric that equates the criminal with the victim, and calls for restraint and desisting from incitement, and considers the massive settlement attack to be just another obstacle, and the most Washington says is that it “does not support settlement expansion,” and it focuses its discourse on the symptoms of the problem, without its clear essence. It is the occupation and its announced plan to resolve the conflict with the Palestinians by liquidating their cause, erasing their national and human rights, and making the occupation a ceiling for their aspirations.

The American administration is reluctant to take any practical steps to curb Israel and prevent it from continuing its crimes against the Palestinians. On the contrary, it continues its practical bias towards Israel by bestowing various forms of financial, military and political support, and continuing to cover the positions of the occupying state at the United Nations and preventing the issuance of any UN resolution to condemn or punish it. . And here it is recently issuing a memorandum condemning the mandate given to the United Nations Human Rights Committee under the pretext that it focuses its efforts on Israel without other countries, and it collects the signatures of 26 other countries.

The American administrations claim that they cannot put pressure on Israel, but they are not sincere about that because they are actually putting pressure on it when it comes to interests. They have previously pressured Israel to push it to accept the principles of the Madrid Conference, and have proceeded to freeze loan guarantees for Israel, as they have recently pressured Netanyahu to stop His government's actions to overthrow the judiciary because it realized that this approach ultimately affects Israel's status and embarrasses Washington in continuing to support it, just as the judicial coup threatens the future of security and military cooperation between the United States and Israel.

The United States can, if it wants, exert serious pressure on Israel and with this criminal impunity of the army and the settlers. The elections diminish the US administration's interest in international issues, especially our Palestinian cause, due to its fear of a clash with pressure centers and lobbies supporting Israel.

The American position supporting Israel is not related to the availability of information about what is going on or its absence, nor is it related to our ability to explain our cause in good English or to a public relations campaign. Only, and the matter is related first and foremost to the strategic interests of this superpower that supports Israel without conditions because the occupying power plays a functional role in serving the global interests of the United States and its allies. One of the well-known features of this role is confronting any state or regime that tries to derive for itself an independent path of development and development in isolation from American hegemony and the international division of labor, markets and raw materials. Israel also plays a central role in protecting and arming authoritarian, corrupt and racist regimes. Israel is also the largest actual laboratory for testing weapons. in the world through military campaigns and wars that never stop and thus provide invaluable services to the US arms industry complexes.

So, it is necessary to address the United States from the gate of its interests, which is possible and realistic and not a fantasy, and the key question that enables the development of the Palestinian, Arab and international position in this direction is: Does the Palestinian cause and the future of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque belong to the Palestinians alone, or does it mean Arabs, Muslims and Christians And thus concerns international peace and stability? Likewise, does the attack on Palestinian villages and their permissibility with killing and arson, as happened in Hawara and Turmusaya, concern the people of these villages who are defending their homes and their children alone, or does it concern all Palestinians, the authority, factions, institutions, the West Bank, Gaza, the interior and the diaspora?

The Palestinians can turn the equation around if they put aside their differences and adopt a practical program whose essence is unity in defending the land, the people, and the sanctities. Any calls for the institutions of the Authority to engage now and at this stage in an armed battle with the occupation army is a kind of delusion and talk that does not cost its owner anything, and like that is the call to distribute weapons to people, as weapons are present in abundance and what is absent is the decision and willingness to bear its cost, but what about the employees of the security services and their number exceeds 45,000 men under arms, most of them are young men, all of them are trained, and they have distinguished military and administrative experiences. What is preventing all of them from engaging in national guard committees and activities to confront the army and settlers' lawlessness? President Mahmoud Abbas considered resisting settler attacks a legitimate act, and other officials called for participation in forming guard committees, so why not build on that immediate and tangible practical plans?

The army and the settlers gain strength over the young men of resistance and on the outskirts of villages close to settlements and army camps when they know that they are able to single out their victims, and that such attacks will not cost them anything, but their calculations will change when they realize that all Palestinians will unite in confronting them, and that the youth of the security services will not stand. Hands idly by when they watch their people being slaughtered, and their villages and towns being violated.

The unified Palestinian position on steadfastness and confrontation will push the whole world to change its calculations, and will contribute to rebuilding the Arab position in a way that strengthens and supports the Palestinian position. American demands to increase oil production and reduce its prices. The Arabs can unite their positions and address the American administration from the gate of its interests, because Jerusalem, the future of the region and the dignity of its people are no less important to the Arab, Muslim and Christian peoples than oil prices.

To sue the people of Turmusaya in America and Europe

Attorney Ibrahim Shaaban

Attorney Ibrahim Shaaban

Opinion Writer

Following the barbaric and barbaric attacks by the Israeli extremist settlers, on the homes and people of the town of Turmusaya, killing, arson, and destruction of human life, homes, cars, and plants therein, where a married youth of the town was killed while defending the town, and more than twelve Palestinians were wounded by live bullets, and burned Thirty houses, and more than sixty cars were destroyed. A delegation from the European Union and European diplomatic missions, joined by an American representation, visited the stricken town.

The delegation expressed, with the literary words and emotional feelings given, their condemnation of these actions and their solidarity with the families of the martyr and the injured, and they took memorial photos with the families, and returned to where they came from to write reports for their foreign ministers, and to ask them for vague, floating and cloudy positions, that do not get fat and do not satisfy hunger, as they used to. They have taken it for more than five decades, and it is most likely that they will repeat it in any upcoming event that harms the Palestinians.

An old, cracked, worn-out record, which the Americans and Europeans have been doing in stupid theatrical movements. As if the Palestinians are naive children who are forgotten by the blood of their children and the waste of their property, ornate phrases, television visits and theatrical situations. History, whose water has not yet dried up, teaches us that the European Union could not stop the official acts of demolition and vandalism of projects funded entirely by the European Union in the West Bank. Even schools were completely demolished and did not escape the Israeli destructive tendency. The European Union could not demand from the Israeli authorities a mere financial claim, an apology or a denunciation, even though the Union is considered the first importer of Israeli products. I mean, with a stroke of a pen, the Israeli government's bones would tremble if the Europeans wanted and resolved.

And let us not forget the issue of Israeli settlement products and their marketing in European Union countries. That the European Union does not consider settlements in politeness and delicate diplomatic language a violation of the rules of international law, instead of considering it a war crime, according to the rules of international humanitarian law. As long as this is the case, why does the European Union not mark and boycott all settlement products in all European Union countries, but rather stands powerless to take any action under one pretext or another?

And why do we forget the miserable and unstoppable European position, whose events are still heated and not forgotten by memory, with what happened in the town of Hawara?

What was the European Union able to do after burning and destroying dozens of homes in Hawara during the past month at the hands of the same violent settler gang? Where is the serious and sober European position, but where are the European measures in response to these barbaric settlement attacks, and why did they not learn from the German invasion, the Nuremburg trials and the London Pact? Rather, where are the European legal measures in response to these grave legal violations of the law of belligerent occupation, whether at the level of the Fourth Geneva Convention, the International Criminal Court, the universal jurisdiction to try war criminals, or at the level of the European Court of Human Rights?

It seems that we have forgotten in our claim to the European Union that we are not Ukrainians, we are not white, our culture is not Western-rooted, and we are not Europeans, but Palestinians who paid the price of European racism and European expulsion of European Jews in the peaceful Palestinian region. Certainly, we will not forget that our Palestinian Authority cannot move a finger towards the Europeans as long as they are the main financier of the Palestinian budget.

If we turn the page, we will find that the American Jewish ambassador did not assign himself to visit the town of Turmusaya and delegated others to inspect his afflicted subjects. Does Turmusaya not be considered a Palestinian town whose residents are exclusively Americans? And let us ask the American ambassador, what did he do regarding the killing of the Palestinian American citizen in the village of Jaljalia by the Israeli forces. And what did all the American administrations do regarding the killing of journalist Sherine Abu Aqleh a year and a half ago?

For seventy-five years, the Palestinians have only heard from the American administration except literature, prose, phrases, conflict management, funding for the relief agency, training for the Palestinian security forces, funding for some activities of Palestinian non-governmental organizations, spending billions on the Israeli entity, and last but not least conspiring against the Palestinian cause and obstructing any solution. fair politician

It must be mentioned here that some American families whose members were injured in the bombings of the second intifada, have filed compensation claims against the Palestinian Authority, as it is responsible for those bombing operations. And the American judiciary took personal jurisdiction as a result of the fact that the injured was an American. Indeed, the American judiciary ruled in their favor to compensate them with tens of millions of dollars.

Similarly, some Americans sued the Arab Bank for opening bank accounts for people they accused of having Palestinian organizational leanings.

This calls for thought and suggestion, why does the American who lives in the town of Turmusaya and who suffered material or physical damage not sue the Israelis before the American courts, civilly and penally? The focus here is on asking the Palestinian American citizen from Turmusaya exclusively to sue the Israelis. This request is confined to them, not the Palestinian National Authority, nor the Palestinian organizations, because such requests will fail the litigation process. It is certain that Palestinian and American justice men will adopt such types of cases and will seek to adopt them. The Israeli here includes the Israeli government, the Israeli army, and the Israeli parties involved, including the Israeli settlers and their ministers, Smotrich and Ben Gvir.

This is not an expansion of criminal and civil liability, but rather a clarification of it. According to the Fourth Geneva Conventions of 1949 and the Fourth Hague Convention of 1977 and international custom, the occupying forces are considered responsible for the security and safety of the protected persons, who are the Palestinians in the occupied territory. It shall take measures to ensure the safety and security of Palestinian protected persons and their property. The Israeli government is responsible, whether it likes it or not, for the actions of the settlers, because they were found by its decision.

In light of the blockage of the political horizon of the Palestinian cause, and in light of the inability of the United Nations to implement its decisions, and in light of the indolence of Karim Khan, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, and in light of the lack of protection for Palestinian civilians, at least the naturalized Palestinians from Turmusaya should initiate an initiative in which they file lawsuits. Civil and penal, before American courts, against settlers who hold American citizenship, and they are many, and against the Israeli administration, civilians and security personnel.

A Jerusalemite lawyer extracts a decision to acquit Sheikh Esmat Al-Hamouri

Today, Sunday, Jerusalemite lawyer Rami Othman was able to obtain a judicial decision from the Israeli occupation courts acquitting the Jerusalemite preacher Sheikh Esmat Al-Hamouri (57 years) from the town of Beit Hanina, north of Jerusalem, after about a year and two months of his arrest and trial on charges of incitement against the occupying state.

Lawyer Rami Othman told Al-Quds.com: “The occupation police arrested the preacher Ismat Al-Hamouri in the month of Ramadan last year, after recording him on the application (TikTok), in which the police claimed that he appears in him giving a sermon in Al-Aqsa Mosque calling for the liberation of Jerusalem by force.” Weapons, but we, as a defense body, were able to refute these allegations, as the video could be fabricated, and the police could not prove their allegations, which is a precedent for refuting those allegations of incitement in Al-Aqsa Mosque and posting on social media.

According to Othman, after the occupation court arrested Sheikh Hammouri for 40 days, he remained in house arrest for six months, bound by an electronic bracelet, and the occupation intended to try him for 20 months. A precedent issued by the Israeli judiciary against the people of Jerusalem.

Othman stressed the necessity of moving away from legal deals, and working to refute the charges against the clients, since the deals are an admission of the charges, which requires looking for gaps in the accusations and not acknowledging them, indicating that the decision of complete innocence of Sheikh Hammouri opens the way for him to file a case against the occupation and request material and moral compensation. For the damages he suffered as a result of this trial and the penalties imposed against him.

For his part, Sheikh Al-Hamouri told Al-Quds.com: "After this decision, all measures taken against me a year and two months ago were lifted, including the travel ban, the ban on entering Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the ban on entering the Old City of Jerusalem."

Al-Hamouri added, "What happened to me came as a tax for our presence in Al-Aqsa Mosque. I was offered many deals to confess to the charges against me, but I refused to admit these charges, because I teach people the Islamic religion and this is not an accusation, and I thank lawyer Rami Othman for his efforts that resulted in this." acquittal decision.

The occupation forces arrested Sheikh Hammouri on the 22nd of April 2022, on charges of incitement because of the Sharia lessons and sermons he delivers in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and he spent 40 days in the occupation prisons, until he was released on conditions restricting his movement, as he spent six months in house arrest. “House confinement” with an electronic tracking bracelet, deportation from the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City of Jerusalem, and a 14-month travel ban.

Observers: The intensification of the occupation army's activity in the West Bank threatens to explode

Palestinian observers believe that the Israeli army's intensification of its field activities in the West Bank portends an explosive situation, which threatens to weaken the Palestinian Authority.

Observers said, in separate statements to Xinhua, that the almost daily Israeli army incursions into West Bank cities, especially the northern cities of Jenin and Nablus, and the accompanying operations of "armed resistance that cause human and material losses among its soldiers, heralds an escalation in the field situation."

Last Monday, Jenin and its Palestinian refugee camp witnessed a military operation by the Israeli army, killing 7 Palestinians, including a child and a girl, and injuring about 90 others, including 23 seriously, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

The operation also resulted in the injury of 7 Israeli soldiers, due to the explosion of a homemade explosive device. Later, Saraya al-Quds, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement in Jenin, claimed responsibility for the incident.

During the military operation, which lasted about 8 hours, the Israeli army used fire from a military helicopter towards a civilian area in the city, after spotting armed men in it, in an incident that is the first of its kind in twenty years.

The field situation is heading for an escalation

The writer and political analyst in Ramallah, Ashraf Al-Ajrami, says that the results of the Israeli operation on Jenin represented a great shock to the attacking Israeli forces and to the Israeli security and political levels.

Al-Ajrami told Xinhua that the security authorities in Israel did not expect that the level of development of making explosives in Jenin would reach the level of detonating and damaging well-armored military vehicles.

He pointed out that the injury of seven soldiers was a major blow to the occupation, not only in terms of intelligence failure to know the possibility of the existence of explosive devices of this size, but also because Israel was not used to such a number of casualties in the incursions it carried out in the West Bank in recent years.

And he continues that the operation in Jenin proved that the Palestinian resistance groups, which were dominated by the nature of spontaneous action, became more organized in terms of awareness, combat capabilities, organization and maneuver in confrontations for long hours.

Al-Ajrami believes that the events in Jenin and other cities such as Nablus, Tulkarem and Ramallah may lead to a new uprising, especially if Israel escalates and kills Palestinian youths.

In the aftermath of the military operation in Jenin and its camp, 4 Israelis were killed in a shooting attack carried out by two Palestinians inside a gas station between the cities of Ramallah and Nablus last Tuesday afternoon.

As a result, Israeli settlers carried out large-scale attacks in several Palestinian towns and villages, which led to the burning of dozens of vehicles and homes, killing a Palestinian with live bullets, and injuring others.

And later, three Palestinian activists were killed in an Israeli air strike that targeted a vehicle in Jenin last Wednesday night.

Challenges Facing Israel in the West Bank

Talal Okal, a writer and political analyst in Gaza, says that the challenge that Israel faces in the West Bank is getting more and more complicated because armed groups have carried out 147 operations since the beginning of the year, and individual commando action has turned into organized action and a public challenge.

Okal added to Xinhua that with the escalation of "the military campaigns of the occupation forces, the capabilities, tactics and operations of the resistance escalate, and the price paid by the settlers increases."

Okal continues that after the two bombings in Jenin and the shooting in the Eli region, great confusion appeared at the levels of decision-making in Israel, and its options are limited to containing the resistance.

In the aftermath of Operation Eli, political voices rose in Israel to hasten to launch a large-scale military operation in the West Bank, especially the northern cities, in response to the Palestinian attacks.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir called, in press statements two days ago, to launch a military operation in the West Bank and bomb buildings from the air, while Deputy Finance Minister Michal Miriam Voldeger said in a statement that we need a major operation to restore calm and deterrence to Jenin, and I hope we will achieve that.

Okal says that Israel knows that an invasion of the northern West Bank will lead to the involvement of the armed factions in Gaza in the confrontation, which will put them in front of two heated arenas.

With the escalation of tensions, the Hebrew public radio revealed on Thursday that the head of the Israeli General Security Service (Shin Bet), Ronen Bar, held an extraordinary meeting in New York about two weeks ago with officials of the United Nations.

Bar said during the meeting, according to the radio, that the Palestinian Authority had lost control over large areas in the northern West Bank, which prompted the Israeli army to intensify its activities there, warning of the deterioration of the PA's situation and the loss of its ability to operate in those areas.

Commenting on this, Hussein Al-Sheikh, Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, affirmed that the role of the Palestinian Authority, which was formed in 1994 in accordance with the Oslo Accords, is to achieve the national project of freedom, independence and protection of the Palestinian people, and it will not be satisfied with anything other than this national and historical role.

He added that Israel must recognize that the problem is in the occupation and that there is no choice but a political solution that ends this occupation and establishes an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders.

Al-Sheikh added that what we are facing is a fierce and comprehensive war that requires the unity and cohesion of our people with all its forces, calling on the international community to take urgent action before it is too late and to send investigation and protection committees into the crimes of the Israeli occupation.

The Israeli government's only option is to use force

Ismat Mansour, who specializes in Israeli affairs, says that the Israeli government has no options but force against the Palestinian people in the West Bank, Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.

Mansour added to Xinhua that the right-wing government of Benjamin Netanyahu has no intention to open a political horizon or take steps to ease the state of tension prevailing since the beginning of this year.

He believes that the escalation of killings, demolitions, land confiscation, and the entry of settlers to carry out large-scale attacks against the Palestinians portends an open confrontation unless there is real international pressure to stop all these practices.

Since the beginning of this year, 24 people have been killed in Israel in attacks carried out by Palestinians. On the other hand, more than 175 Palestinians, including children and women, have been killed by Israeli bullets in the West Bank.

Settler crimes are official Israeli policy

Jerusalem Hadith

Jerusalem Hadith

Opinion Writer

The settlers' continuous crimes of burning houses, cars, property, trees, and lands in several towns and villages, the latest of which was yesterday in crimes in Umm Safa, where no less than ten houses were burned, except for cars, and bullets were fired at citizens, which led to the injury of a Palestine TV crew's car and a machine Filming with bullets herds of settlers unleashed. All this cannot be done without a signal from the Israeli political and military leadership, and with the encouragement and protection of the occupying forces deployed in the occupied West Bank, and in most cases the participation of these forces in the crimes and attacks of settlers.

So, what the herds of settlers are doing is an official Israeli policy, despite its claims that things have gotten out of its control, its admission of its failure to prevent these raging herds and other false allegations, and it confirms that the occupying state is behind these attacks, and even war crimes committed by the occupying forces with herds of settlers.

Who created the settlements and settlers on the occupied Palestinian land, and who declared that the settlers constitute the first line of defense for the occupying state?! And who ordered the settlers to hand over weapons and facilitate their obtaining them to carry out their crimes and attacks, so that they affected people, trees, stones, and sanctities, foremost of which are the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Ibrahimi Mosque, the assaults on mosques, the burning of the Holy Qur’ans, and other violations that condemn all humanity?! And all these crimes, which are an official policy of occupation, which our people face with their bare chests, except out of faith in the justice of their cause and their determination to obtain their full and inalienable national rights and sweep away the occupation from their land and homeland, which has no homeland but it.

In order to thwart this official Israeli policy, whose most important goals are attempts to resolve the conflict in its favor and eliminate the Palestinian cause, the first thing that requires the unity of the Palestinian national ranks, without which the occupation, through its aggressive forces and herds of settlers, will continue to carry out their crimes in full view of the world.

The time has come to restore political and geographical unity and stand by our people in the face of tyrants who have wreaked havoc on the land and destroyed crops and offspring.

As for our people remaining without real protection from the Palestinian side and betting on America and Europe and on the false statements they make without taking any practical steps on the ground to put an end to the crimes committed against our people, things will go from bad to worse, and whoever bears the responsibility in the first degree is not Only the occupation, but giving priority to personal, factional and partisan interests over the supreme national interest.

Why do citizens face the attacks of the occupation forces and herds of settlers alone, and why do efforts not unite and crystallize a unified national position to defend citizens and repel the attacks of herds of settlers supported by the occupation forces?

Neither America nor Europe can protect our people. On the contrary, these countries, rather most European countries, are true supporters of the occupying state, and the visits of solidarity made by representatives of the European Union are only for appearances and showing off in front of cameras and television, but in reality they do nothing for a country. The occupation only provides support for it at all levels.

Ahmed Erekat and the bodies of the martyrs

Dr.. Dalal Saeb Erekat

Dr.. Dalal Saeb Erekat

Forever disturbed by the images of the injustice of Khader Adnan, Nasser Abu Hamid, and the Israeli police assaulting the funeral procession of Palestinian-American Sherine Abu Aqleh, and images engraved in my mind and heart of the execution of my cousin Ahmed Erekat on June 23, 2020.

Every family has the right to rest their loved ones in dignity and without hindrance. Three years after the execution of Ahmed, 26, who was killed in cold blood at the checkpoint between Jerusalem and Bethlehem on the day of his sister's wedding, his car accidentally crashed into the "container" checkpoint. The cameras documented that Ahmed got out of the car and raised his hands high in the air as a sign of innocence. The occupation army claimed that it was a deliberate "terrorist" attack, but provided no evidence that the incident was not an accident. It was reported that one soldier was injured, but he got up immediately.

Meanwhile, two other armed soldiers started shooting at my innocent cousin, who raised his arms and fell to the ground.
Our family asked a London-based research organization, Forensic Architecture, to investigate. The investigation concluded: (According to the IDF's open-fire regulations, live ammunition may only be used as a last resort in the event of a "life-threatening threat". Our analysis contradicts the army's claim, and shows that Ahmed posed no immediate threat.)

From the footage in the results of the investigation, Ahmed was seen being shot 6 times within two seconds by the Israeli occupation soldiers, and the investigation added, "The last 3 shots were fired when Ahmed was already on the ground."

Medical negligence and restrictions on doctors became apparent when a Palestinian ambulance arrived but was denied access by the Israeli army. An Israeli ambulance had previously arrived, but only removed the presumed wounded Israeli soldier. The statement included in the investigation sums it up: “The practice of denying medical care is the act of ‘killing over time’.” More than two hours after the shooting, only an ambulance picked him up. But the injustice does not end here, the body of my cousin has been denied return to us for a proper burial until this moment.

Immediately, after the Israelis held his body hostage, we formed a family team, wrote books, exerted every possible effort and available pressure, and followed up by all means. We presented his case to the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, and legal, human rights and humanitarian organizations. The cameras documented the crime, and Forensic Architecture presented a detailed study report with pictures, angles and coordinates, second by second. The investigation studied the speed of the car and dropped it practically and psychologically on the driver’s intention to prove intentional killing by the occupation forces. Despite all attempts, the occupation courts proved to be ineffective, as they did not provide anything of justice.

We resorted to the pen, international law, diplomacy, popular marches, courts, international campaigns, parliamentarians, and knocked on all the doors of the world and humanity, and despite all that, Ahmed's body is still being held to this date, three years later.
Yes, until this moment, Ahmed's body is still being held in Israeli refrigerators, perhaps in the laboratories of Tel Aviv University, the ugly truth details that the Israelis will never convey.

I am writing today to send a message that we will not give up, get tired, or get tired. We are facing a prolonged unjust military occupation, a criminal terrorist "army" that kills the youth of Palestine and tries to kill the word of truth.

Shereen Abu Aqleh feels relieved as she looks at us from the sky and trusts that her peers and friends who are professionals in writing and the journalism profession will continue to show/tell the truth, to document the picture and reveal the true criminal face of the occupation.

No one has the right to decide the end of human life except God Almighty, and therefore we are facing a crime against humanity in its full dimensions and the direct suspect is the Israeli occupation soldiers. The Israeli occupier masters spinning information, distorting facts, changing narratives, and distracting the masses. The right of Sherine, Ahmed and all the innocent martyrs is our duty, and justice will certainly prevail one day.

The sad story does not end with Ahmed's martyrdom, but rather the painful truth that my uncle (Ahmed's father and wife) and the families of more than 125 martyrs whose bodies were seized have abandoned their demands for justice today. They do not want to hold the Israeli criminals accountable. Their only request is to kiss their children goodbye and bury their bodies with dignity.

Not to mention our differences, colors, and ideological backgrounds, it is unnatural for any human being to tolerate this fact in 2023.

Not only did Israel fail to issue an autopsy report, it also failed to open an investigation. First, my cousin was executed, and this cannot be justified. Then his body was confiscated, and his family was deprived of the most basic human rights to a farewell and a dignified burial.

My cousin, the martyr Ahmad, is not alone, he is one of dozens of Palestinians whose bodies were confiscated from their families - an exercise in collective punishment. I pray that Ahmed and all the victims of Israeli oppression will be reunited with their families for a farewell worthy of humanity, because every human being has the right to be buried.

Arrests and criticism.. Israeli security leaders describe settler attacks as terrorist

Last night, the leaders of the Israeli security services described the settler attacks as "terrorist", which angered the far-right ministers in Benjamin Netanyahu's government.

A joint statement by the head of the Shin Bet, Ronen Bar, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, Herzi Halevi, and the Police Commissioner, Kobi Shabtai, said after their meeting on Saturday evening, “In recent days, attacks have taken place by Israeli citizens against innocent Palestinians in the occupied areas. West Bank, these attacks are against all moral and Jewish values, and they are also national terrorism in every sense of the word, and we are obligated to fight them."

The joint statement considered that these attacks by settlers increase Palestinian reactions, harm Israel and the international legitimacy of the Israeli security services in "fighting Palestinian terrorism", and distract them from their primary mission in this regard. According to the statement.

The Israeli security leaders affirmed their commitment to continue to act decisively and by all means to preserve what they described as security and law in the West Bank, and to increase forces to prevent these events, and to expand arrests, including administrative ones, against those who work in a violent and extremist way inside Palestinian villages. referring to the settlers.

The statement called on settler leaders to publicly condemn these violent acts and join in standing against them.

According to the Hebrew website Ynet, the Israeli army requested the evacuation of 7 settlement outposts established during the past few days, but the political leadership objected, and this was not discussed tonight.

Senior officials in the administration of US President Joe Biden said that they greatly appreciated the joint declaration by Israeli security leaders against settler violence, and considered this an unusual declaration of great importance, stressing the need to work to stop these attacks.

In the context, it was announced on Sunday morning that the Shin Bet security service had arrested an Israeli soldier who was on leave, on suspicion of his involvement in the violent incidents that took place yesterday evening, in the village of Umm Safa, near Ramallah.

The leaders of the far-right parties in the Israeli government, Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, criticized this step by the Israeli security leaders, considering it a harsh and discriminatory step against settlers and settlements.

The miracle is in the hands of the Palestinians

Tamara Haddad

Tamara Haddad

Opinion Writer

Throughout human history, the oppressed peoples devised many methods in order to achieve their goals and extract their fate from the occupying powers, and the Palestinian people were no less fortunate in their struggle path, as their history passed through the main turning points that are evidence of the stations of the national struggle, as the most prominent of which was the uprising of stones, which was able to achieve results It is just around the corner from realizing the state project had it not been for the international conspiracy and Palestinian fragmentation that exhausted the project.

Whereas, with the outbreak of the Intifada, the Palestinian cause entered the stage of Palestinian creativity as a heated political action within the framework of a large-scale mass movement of an organizational and framing nature to reach multiple goals with strategic dimensions that go beyond administrative and living demands and impose political demands.

The Intifada ended, and the Palestinian people began to invent other methods, either through resistance, whether through individual or organized operations to confront the occupier, or legal, diplomatic, political methods. To establish a Palestinian state interconnected geographically and demographically, and this is an indication of the incompatibility of the tools by the factions with a specific national project as a result of the political division between the parties to the conflict (Palestinian-Palestinian).

There are no longer options to save the situation except by strengthening a method similar to the totalitarian uprising before the occurrence of the comprehensive military operation by the occupation, as it is a matter of time for it, as it is in the current spiritual agenda, but the existence of various threats, the occupation currently wants to neutralize each threat separately so that the appropriate time to launch a military operation Comprehensive, its goal is to completely end the Palestinian entity, and this is also a matter of time between five to ten years, and it may be less than that due to internal fragmentation and the primacy of quotas and domination over the public interest, and in the face of the absence of a clear role on the part of the international community to pressure the occupation to find a just solution to the issue, despite the certainty that the one who built the base Zionism will not stand by the Palestinian reality.

The general principle for achieving positive results requires that there must be elements of struggle to achieve the higher goals, including the use of all methods of long-term resistance and national unity publicly and organizationally to save what can be saved after transferring settlement projects into the hands of Smotrich, who is in charge of the Civil Administration, and this means the West Bank, which is considered the most important. From Tel Aviv, according to the religious faith that believes in the non-compromise of the West Bank and Jerusalem, as they are at the heart of the biblical religious project. They also believe in an all-out war for the resurrection of the Lord Christ, according to their belief, who will save them from the Arabs and the Palestinians.

The creativity and valor of Palestinian individuals in resisting the occupier, despite the weakness of capabilities, is not intended to continue the cycle of violence in the region, but rather to find political solutions to the issue. They are natural reactions to the occupation’s war crimes of genocide and its continuous incursions into the areas of the West Bank to end the state of struggle, strengthen their projects with military force, and impose a reality that the Palestinian people surrender and accept three options proposed by Smotrich: Either living in peace and as second-class slaves under the framework of a state Occupation, immigration, or death. This is what the occupier wants to reinforce in the face of the absence of a unified national factional and organizational reality, despite the unity of the field in the confrontation and clash with the settlers who revel in the protection and support of the occupation in the areas of the West Bank.

Therefore, it is not surprising that the Palestinian people innovate to break restrictions and thwart assassination and abortion plots, entrenching the values of civilized struggle guaranteed in international law. Therefore, what the Palestinian people need is the formation of a moral, political, and mass struggle entity in all parts of the Palestinian geography to continue achieving the goal of salvation and insisting on life, freedom, dignity, and national independence.

The current reality requires more audacity and political courage to take substantial steps to build a national vision to establish the Palestinian citizen, bypassing factional differences on the scene, realizing the importance of preserving the unity of the masses because they are the basis for the revolution with all their formations and strengthening the political cover for the goals of the revolution that serve national goals, in addition to securing international protection in accordance with the laws And the international norms of the Palestinian masses as a result of the damage and oppression by the occupation and the creation of a broad front of relations with international institutions in solidarity with any new reality that enhances the people's revolution. The decision to confront and the will to stand firm with the available capabilities is a thousand times better than the policy of betting on the temporal factor and concealment and hiding behind the slogan of strategic balance.

In front of the people's understanding of this truth, the path of struggle must be continued by all means so as not to plunge the conflict into a state of stagnation, waiting for a regional or international miracle after thinking about their interests without looking at the Palestinian cause as the key to peace in the region.

The effectiveness of any Palestinian effort has a greater impact than betting on a complicit international community, because it is the only one that worries the occupier and inflicts losses on it.

A new intifada, albeit with a vision different from the intifada of stones, is the decisive element that breaks the bet of waiting, as it achieves deterrence, creates a state of psychological and moral collapse for the occupier, destabilizes security theories, transfers the battle to its interior, and forces it to achieve political goals through Palestinian distinction and reliance on the masses of the people, their energies, and the ability to take initiative. And relying on the Palestinian self through the accumulation of national activities in the occupied country, deepening national affiliation, developing political awareness, and increasing public rallying around the national programs after correcting them, whether at the level of the PLO or democratically electing a new leadership to achieve the masses’ goals without invoking flimsy pretexts, including the futility of the democratic process. At least restore demographic communication between the Strip and the West Bank and start saving what can be saved by correcting a national project for national institutions that need renewal.
