The commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Viktor Sokolov, who the Ukrainian army announced Monday that it had killed last week, appeared in photos distributed by the Russian Ministry of Defense on Tuesday.
The official is pictured in military uniform on a large screen alongside other senior military officials as they participate in a video meeting chaired by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
A statement that did not mention the name of the official indicated that the meeting took place on Tuesday. The Ukrainian army announced on Monday that it had killed the commander of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea in a strike on Friday on the naval headquarters in Sebastopol on the Crimean peninsula.
