Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich agreed on Wednesday to advance the construction of 1,000 settlement units in the Eli settlement near Ramallah.
Netanyahu's office said that the decisions comes in response to Monday's shooting attack, where two Palestinian gunmen killed four Israelis.
In his statement, Netanyahu's office said: "Our response to terrorism is to strike it will force, and build to up our country."
Several ministers and lawmakers from the ruling coalition, as well as settler leaders, praised the decision.
