Two Palestinian youths were injured by Israeli army gunfire in the town of Al-Ram, north of Jerusalem, on Sunday evening.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society stated in a statement that its crews transported to the hospital in Ramallah "two youths (30 and 34 years old) who were injured by live fire while attempting to cross the apartheid separation wall in the town of Al-Ram".
The society clarified that the injuries were from live fire in the thighs.
Almost daily, injuries to Palestinians recur near the separation wall around Jerusalem and along the borders between the West Bank and Israel, as Palestinians, most of whom are workers, attempt to cross it in search of work inside Israel, which occupies their lands.
Data from the General Union of Palestinian Workers indicates that 44 Palestinian workers have been killed by Israeli army gunfire, and more than 32,000 others have been arrested, either at workplaces or while seeking work, since the start of the genocide war on October 8, 2023, until October 28 of the same month.
Since the start of the genocide war on Gaza in October 2023, Israel has prevented Palestinian workers from returning to their workplaces, so some resort to climbing the separation wall despite the risks involved in the endeavor.
Jerusalem is surrounded by a wall of cement and barbed wire, most of which was built on West Bank lands, with a height exceeding 8 meters and a length of about 202 kilometers, according to the Israeli human rights organization "B'Tselem".
While Israel claims it built it for security reasons, Palestinians and the United Nations affirm that its construction was part of a plan to annex Palestinian lands to Israel.
In 2004, the International Court of Justice in The Hague issued an advisory opinion on the illegality of the wall, due to its construction on occupied Palestinian lands.
Concurrently with the start of the genocide war on October 8, 2023, the Israeli army and settlers escalated their attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, resulting in the killing of at least 1,105 Palestinians, injuring about 11,000, in addition to arresting more than 21,000.
The genocide war, which left more than 71,000 dead and 171,000 injured, ended with an agreement to cease fire, the first phase of which began last October.
