The American global star and former UN Special Envoy for Refugees, Angelina Jolie, visited the Rafah crossing from the Egyptian side east of the country on Friday.
She also inspected injured Palestinians receiving treatment at Al-Arish General Hospital in the border governorate of North Sinai, Egypt.
Egyptian official sources reported that Jolie arrived at the Rafah crossing from the Egyptian side, where she was received by North Sinai Governor Khaled Majdi, and Ambassador Nabiela Makram, former Minister of State for Immigration and head of the Technical Secretariat of the National Alliance for Civil Development Work.
They noted that Jolie's visit included inspecting the logistical warehouses belonging to the Egyptian Red Crescent, which are used to secure humanitarian supplies directed to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
Jolie also visited Al-Arish General Hospital accompanied by Aroua Jayer, representative of the US Department of State, and in the presence of the North Sinai Governor.
During the visit, she reviewed the conditions of the injured Palestinians, reassured herself about their health status and the level of medical care provided to them.
Jolie praised the efforts of the Egyptian Ministry of Health in receiving the injured and sick Palestinians and providing treatment to them in Egyptian hospitals.
On October 8, 2023, Israel began a war of collective genocide on the Gaza Strip that lasted two years, resulting in more than 71,000 Palestinian deaths and 171,000 injuries, in addition to widespread destruction affecting nearly 90% of the civilian infrastructure, while the United Nations estimated the cost of reconstruction at around 70 billion dollars.
Despite the ceasefire agreement entering into force on October 10, 2025, the living conditions in Gaza have not seen tangible improvement, due to Israel's evasion of fulfilling its commitments stipulated in the agreement, including importing the agreed quantities of food, relief, and medical materials, prefabricated homes, and opening the crossings.
During the visit, she reviewed the conditions of the injured Palestinians, reassured herself about their health status and the level of medical care provided to them.
