The Civil Defense in Gaza Strip announced on Wednesday a tragic toll for the low pressure system hitting the sector, confirming the death of 17 Palestinians due to the collapse of residential buildings.

In details of the tragedy, the directorate revealed that among the victims, 4 children lost their lives due to the severe cold besieging the displaced.

Field reports indicated the complete collapse of more than 17 residential buildings since the start of the impact of the low pressure systems on the besieged sector.

On the humanitarian situation inside the displacement camps, the Civil Defense confirmed that nearly 90% of accommodation centers in Gaza Strip were flooded due to the torrential floods and accumulation of rainwater.

It clarified that its teams received about 5,000 distress calls since the start of the low pressure systems, noting the existence of thousands of families that became homeless after their tents were completely flooded.
