Civil defense crews rescued, on Wednesday, 6 Palestinians including two children, after the roof of a house collapsed on them in the Shati camp west of Gaza City, due to the heavy rains accompanying the low-pressure system affecting the sector.
The civil defense stated in a statement that its crews managed to rescue 6 Palestinians from under the rubble of the collapsed house, and noted that their health condition is good.
The statement mentioned that the house consists of three floors, and that the collapse affected only the upper roof, amid the continuation of rainy weather and the sector being affected by another night of the low-pressure system.
Gaza has been hit by a low-pressure system since Monday evening, the second in less than a week, amid a significant deterioration in humanitarian conditions with thousands of homes and tents damaged.
On Tuesday, a number of Palestinians were injured and others went missing due to the collapse of a building damaged from the Israeli genocide war, due to the stormy weather accompanying the low-pressure system, according to the civil defense.
Gaza City also witnessed a partial collapse in a house belonging to the Skeik family east of the city, where its upper floors collapsed without recording injuries, while the Ministry of Health announced the death of an infant due to severe cold.
The first low-pressure system, named "Birun", caused the death of 14 Palestinians, and the complete or partial damage and flooding of 53,000 tents, according to official data, which exacerbated the suffering of Palestinians.
During the low-pressure system, data from the Government Media Office indicated the collapse of at least 13 buildings from the buildings damaged due to the Israeli genocide, and that on the heads of their residents who took refuge in them to shelter from the rain and cold.
Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Civil Defense in Gaza stated that it recorded hundreds of homes classified as dangerous and unfit for habitation, after being targeted and bombed by Israel during the genocide war.
It mentioned that a decision was made for the immediate demolition of three homes today, Wednesday, in the Tunnel and Zaytoun areas east of Gaza City, after evacuating their residents in the presence of specialized engineers.
This suffering comes amid Israel's evasion of fulfilling its commitments stipulated in the ceasefire agreement in effect since October 10 last year, and its humanitarian protocol, including the entry of shelter materials and 300,000 tents and mobile homes, as repeatedly confirmed by the Government Media Office in Gaza.
The Israeli genocide war in Gaza, which began on October 8, 2023, with American support and lasted two years, left more than 70,000 dead and over 171,000 injured, mostly children and women, and destruction that affected 90 percent of the civilian infrastructure.
