The Israeli occupation forces launched a wide-ranging campaign of raids and arrests in various areas of the occupied West Bank, affecting a number of Palestinians. This campaign coincided with the declaration of a general strike in the city of Hebron, in mourning for the souls of the martyrs.
Local sources reported that the occupation forces raided several homes in Hebron and other towns, searched them and tampered with their contents before arresting a number of young men. Israeli military vehicles were also stationed around the Al-Aroub camp north of Hebron, leading to clashes with Palestinian youths.
In the same context, national activities in Hebron announced a comprehensive strike in mourning for the souls of the two martyrs who were killed by occupation bullets earlier. The strike included educational institutions and shops, amid calls to escalate popular resistance against the occupation.
For its part, the Palestinian Authority strongly condemned these raids and arrests, considering them a dangerous escalation aimed at undermining security and stability in the region. It called on the international community to intervene urgently to stop these Israeli violations against the Palestinian people.
These developments come amid escalating tension in the West Bank, and increasing fears of a large-scale confrontation, in light of continued Israeli provocations and the escalating pace of settlement construction.
The situation in the West Bank is deteriorating dangerously as a result of the continuous raids and arrests.
