The Palestinian Prisoner's Society expressed its growing concern about the fate of prisoner Marwan Barghouti, following a new intimidation incident targeting his family.
The Society described what happened as a "direct extension of the organized terrorism policy" practiced by the occupation against the families of prisoners, with the aim of breaking their will and affecting them psychologically.
The Society explained that the phone call received by the Barghouti family from a person claiming to be a released prisoner, during which he published horrific information about Barghouti's situation in prison, falls within a systematic policy aimed at terrorizing prisoners and their families, considering this an "organized crime."
The Society also affirmed that the threats to which Barghouti is exposed and the attacks that targeted him and other leaders in the prisoner movement represent a new episode in the "policy of slow killing and deliberate liquidation" that targets the leaders and thousands of Palestinian detainees.
The Society pointed out that the prisoners are subjected to slow execution crimes through torture, starvation, isolation, attacks, and denial of treatment.
The Prisoner's Society held the occupation authorities fully and directly responsible for the safety of Marwan Barghouti and the lives of all prisoners, stressing that what is happening to them falls within the framework of a "fully integrated genocide war" that is escalating inside prisons.
The Society added that the prison administration continues to isolate a number of leaders of the prisoner movement in harsh conditions, and continues its campaigns of repression and abuse against them.
The Society pointed out that the extremist minister Itamar Ben Gvir had directed a direct and public threat to Barghouti via a video clip, considering this an inciting behavior aimed at physically liquidating the prisoners and justifying their killing through what is called the prisoner execution law.
In its concluding statement, the Prisoner's Society stressed that the continuation of these crimes without accountability represents a "stigma on the forehead of the international community," calling for immediate and real international intervention to protect the lives of the prisoners and hold the occupation leaders accountable for their crimes.
The direct threats to which Barghouti is exposed are a new episode in the policy of slow killing and deliberate liquidation practiced against the leaders and thousands of detainees.
