Israeli interest in the upcoming meeting between Netanyahu and Trump to end the Gaza war

Hebrew media focused its coverage on the anticipated meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump today, Monday, which is expected to center on the issue of ending the fighting in Gaza and the American plan for future settlement.

The Hebrew newspaper "Maariv" noted that Netanyahu said in an interview with Fox News that "we are currently working with the Trump team on a 21-point agreement, and we hope to be able to move it forward, and if Hamas leaders leave Gaza and release the hostages and end the war, we will guarantee them a safe exit."

The newspaper reported that Trump also stated that the reactions from Israel and Arab countries are positive, expressing hope for reaching an agreement in the scheduled meeting with Netanyahu.

It quoted a senior Israeli political official as saying that "Tel Aviv is dealing with the Trump administration's plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip with a simple and clear principle, which is the return of the prisoners and the exit of Hamas from Gaza."

The same source continued: "There is a preliminary agreement that Israel does not intend to allow Hamas to continue its control over the Gaza Strip the next day, but it also does not intend to return the Palestinian Authority to it."

Maariv pointed out that the French ambassador to Israel, Frédéric Jorjais, stated to it that the police affiliated with the Palestinian Authority are already training in Jordan, preparing for their future entry into Gaza, as part of the arrangement being formed to end the war.

It noted that Netanyahu canceled part of his agenda that was scheduled for Sunday in New York and replaced it with meetings with his small team and advisors, in preparation for today's meeting with Trump.

It addressed that Trump's 21-point plan was leaked in recent days, revealing that the first phase will include an immediate halt to all military operations, freezing lines of combat, and releasing all living prisoners within 48 hours, along with returning the bodies of the dead.
