Trump meets with leaders of Arab and Islamic countries: We will discuss the Gaza war and may end it now.

U.S. President Donald Trump said during a meeting with leaders of Arab and Islamic countries, including Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, that his country will work to end the war in the Gaza Strip.

Trump added that this meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, represents "the most important meeting I've ever had." He clarified at the beginning of the meeting that "this meeting will be important, and we will discuss ending the war, and perhaps we will end it now."

For his part, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that Trump's meeting with leaders of Islamic countries regarding Gaza was "very fruitful." Turkey, a member of NATO, has strongly criticized the Israeli attacks on Gaza, describing them as reaching the level of genocide.

In his remarks to reporters in New York following the meeting, Erdoğan said that a joint statement from the meeting would be issued and that he is "pleased" with its outcomes, but he did not go into details.

TRT television quoted Erdoğan as saying during the meeting that there is no war in Gaza "but an invasion and genocide," emphasizing that what is happening in the region is "killing, destruction, and the forced displacement of Palestinians."
