Hamas stated on Saturday that the Israeli army is using explosive-laden drones carrying tons of explosives with the aim of exterminating civilians and destroying residential neighborhoods in Gaza City, as part of the genocide it has been committing in the Gaza Strip for nearly two years.
It added in a statement that "the occupation army drives the explosive-laden vehicles deep into residential neighborhoods and then detonates them to create the widest area of destruction and killing."
The movement pointed out that human rights organizations documented the detonation of about 120 vehicles in one week, loaded with hundreds of tons of explosives.
Hours earlier, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor stated in a statement that the Israeli army detonates more than 17 explosive-laden vehicles daily in Gaza City, "each of which is equivalent to an earthquake of 3.7 degrees on the Richter scale."
The monitor, based in Geneva, clarified that "the Israeli occupation army detonated about 120 explosive-laden vehicles carrying nearly 840 tons of explosives among residential homes in Gaza City over the past week."
Hamas confirmed that "the world is witnessing horrific crimes committed by the war criminal government of (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court, including the attempt to destroy Gaza City and displace its residents under the weight of massacres and bombardment, and the use of various means of killing and extermination, foremost among them the explosive drones."
It called on the international community, Arab and Islamic countries, and international institutions to "take immediate action to stop these crimes and take practical steps to deter the occupation and hold its leaders accountable for what they have committed against the Palestinian people and humanity."
The Israeli army continues its intensive bombardment of the neighborhoods of Gaza City, especially the western areas crowded with displaced persons coming from the eastern neighborhoods after the intensive destruction carried out by the Israeli forces there, coinciding with the execution of demolition operations on residential facilities in the northwestern neighborhoods.
On Tuesday, the Israeli army announced that it had begun a "wide ground operation" throughout Gaza City, but no actual ground incursion was observed according to field evidence and local sources, except for Wednesday evening in the northern neighborhoods of the city.
Thus, the Israeli army is present on the ground in several axes in Gaza City, which are: the north around the "Rocket" intersection at the junction of Al-Jalaa and Al-Saftawi streets, the northeast in the schools around the Berka area of Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, the northwest around the Al-Karama neighborhood, the southwest near the Dahdouh intersection on "Street 8" and around the university college, the east in the neighborhoods of Al-Zeitoun, Al-Shuja'iyya, and Al-Tuffah, and the southeast in the Al-Sabra neighborhood.
On August 8, the Israeli government approved a plan proposed by Netanyahu to gradually reoccupy the Gaza Strip entirely, starting with Gaza City, which is home to about one million Palestinians.
With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in 65,208 deaths and 166,271 injuries, most of whom are children and women, and a famine that claimed the lives of 442 Palestinians, including 147 children.
The world is witnessing horrific crimes committed by the war criminal government of Netanyahu.
