The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the decision of the Republic of Portugal to recognize the State of Palestine tomorrow, Sunday, considering it a courageous decision that aligns with international law and United Nations resolutions, and supports the efforts made to achieve peace and implement the two-state solution.
The Foreign Ministry stated in a statement issued today, Saturday, "We thank the countries that have announced their intention to recognize the State of Palestine," calling on countries that have not yet recognized it to take the initiative to recognize the State of Palestine in order to protect the two-state solution.
It also called for active engagement in international efforts to achieve an immediate cessation of the war, protect civilians, and open a political negotiation track to end the occupation and enable the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination.
