Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir vowed on Wednesday to attack Hamas leaders "everywhere," following the targeting of a Hamas negotiating delegation in the Qatari capital, Doha.
The Israeli army stated in a statement that Zamir held a meeting with leaders on Wednesday to discuss the progress of Operation "Gideon's Chariots 2," aimed at occupying the city of Gaza, at the army's southern command headquarters.
Zamir was quoted as saying in the meeting: "We are moving towards the next stages in the mission to overthrow Hamas rule - this is our goal. We will overthrow this rule and nothing will stop us from carrying out the mission."
He added: "We have two goals ahead of us: freeing the hostages, which is a moral mission, a top priority that is crucial and necessary, alongside the mission to overthrow Hamas, these are the tasks of our generation," he claimed.
After more than three weeks of intensive bombing on Gaza, the Israeli army launched on September 3rd the "Gideon's Chariots 2" operation to completely occupy the city of Gaza, which sparked criticism and protests in Israel, fearing for the lives of the captives and soldiers.
Zamir continued: "As I said before, we will attack them and pursue them everywhere, in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) and elsewhere as we did in the past 24 hours."
The largest operation carried out by the Israeli army in the past 24 hours was the attack on the negotiating delegation of Hamas in the Qatari capital, Doha, on Tuesday.
Zamir did not mention Qatar by name.
He said: "We are closely monitoring the shift in the balance of power in the Middle East. In front of me and the leadership of the General Staff, the goals of the multi-front war are all present. We have been in a state of war for about two years, and now we have reached critical stages of it. We are establishing the reality for future generations, this is how we must see things," according to his statements.
On Tuesday, the Israeli army announced that it had launched an airstrike on the leadership of Hamas in Doha, which drew widespread regional and international condemnation.
Qatar condemned the Israeli attack and affirmed its right to respond to this aggression that killed a member of the internal security forces.
Meanwhile, Hamas announced that its negotiating delegation, led by its chief in Gaza, Khalil al-Hayya, survived the assassination attempt, while the director of his office, Jihad Labed, and his son, Hamam al-Hayya, along with three companions, Abdullah Abdul Wahid, Moamen Hassouna, and Ahmad al-Mamlouk, were killed.
Israel, with American support, is committing genocide in Gaza, resulting in 64,656 dead and 163,503 injured Palestinians, most of whom are children and women, along with hundreds of thousands of displaced persons, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 404 Palestinians, including 141 children.
We will attack them and pursue them everywhere, in Judea and Samaria and elsewhere.
