Sources confirmed today, Tuesday, that a delegation from the Hamas movement negotiating in the Qatari capital, Doha, survived an Israeli assassination attempt, shortly after the Israeli occupation army announced an airstrike targeting the top leaders of the movement.
A joint statement from the spokesperson for the Israeli occupation army and the spokesperson for the Shin Bet stated: "We carried out a focused airstrike a short while ago, targeting the top leaders of the Hamas organization."
The statement continued: "The leaders who were targeted have led the organization's activities for years, and they are directly responsible for carrying out the October 7 attack and managing the war against the occupying state."
The occupation's statement claimed that prior to carrying out the attack, measures were taken to minimize harm to non-involved individuals, including the use of precision munitions and additional intelligence information.
Several explosions were heard in the Qatari capital, Doha, while thick smoke was seen rising over the Katara neighborhood.
The Qatari authorities have not yet issued any official statement regarding the source of the explosions or the extent of the damage and human and material losses, while security teams and civil defense continue to head to the area to monitor the situation and secure civilians.
These explosions come days after an Israeli warning about targeting Hamas leaders abroad, raising speculation about a possible connection between the incident and these threats, amid a state of concern and anticipation at the regional and international levels.
The agency urged residents in the area to exercise caution and follow safety instructions until official information is released, with local and international media closely monitoring the situation.
The Israeli army and Shin Bet will continue to work decisively to eliminate the Hamas organization responsible for the October 7 attack.
