The Israeli occupation army has escalated its genocide campaign in recent days, preparing for its ground forces to enter the city of Gaza, as part of what has been dubbed "Gideon's Chariots 2." This escalation involved the destruction of several residential towers, claiming that the resistance had established observation points and command centers within them.
Channel 12 reported that "by destroying the high-rise buildings, the Israeli army is trying to convince the residents of Gaza to leave the city, before increasing the pace of operations next week and ramping up airstrikes."
It clarified that "the biggest challenge facing the Israeli army is evacuating the residents. Estimates suggest that even if it succeeds in evacuating 60 to 70 percent of the city's population, more than 300,000 people will remain, making it difficult for the forces to continue fighting, while at the same time, international pressure will increase."
It mentioned that "Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir held talks with leaders and fighters in recent days in preparation for the ground operation and entry into the city of Gaza, clarifying the objective of the operation and its importance, and that the operational plan devised by the army aligns with its principles, the most important of which is to avoid endangering the lives of hostages (Israeli captives) and ensuring the safety of our forces."
It confirmed that "in recent days, U.S. President Donald Trump sent a message to Israel indicating that he expects the operation to be swift and effective. It is clear that this action will not be quick to ensure that the lives of the hostages are not endangered."
Zamir explained that the Israeli army seeks to make a decision, and that Hamas does not have true sovereignty, but is besieged.
At the same time, Zamir clarified to the families of the captives: "I will carry out the operation myself and under my responsibility - towards both the fighters and the hostages. I believe in the operational plan. The people of Israel will know what I say, and I will continue to express my professional opinion. The hostages are always in my sight, and I act with the utmost responsibility."
In parallel with the occupation army's preparations for the "ground operation" in the city of Gaza, talks are taking place behind the scenes in an attempt to reach an agreement.
Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the expansion of the operation in the city of Gaza, preparing for its occupation. He stated in a post on the platform "X" (formerly Twitter): "Now, the screws have been lifted from the gates of hell in Gaza."
Later, after the destruction of the Susi Tower in the city, he said: "We have begun."
The channel previously reported that security sources informed the families of the captives that the Chief of Staff reviewed the Cabinet's decision to occupy the city of Gaza and decided to implement it despite his recommendation against it, after he saw that it was not clearly illegal.
Additionally, a spokesperson for the Israeli occupation army informed the media at noon that many buildings will be attacked in the coming days that "have been turned into terrorist infrastructure in preparation for the operation in the city of Gaza, including cameras, observation points, sniper and anti-tank launch sites, and command and control complexes."
