Qatari-European discussions in Doha regarding Gaza

The Qatari Foreign Ministry stated that Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani discussed, today Friday, in Doha with the European Union's foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.

The ministry added, in a statement, that the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the necessity of regional and international efforts to reach an agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman stressed the need for these efforts to ensure the protection of civilians, the release of detainees and prisoners, and the flow of humanitarian aid to address the catastrophic conditions in Gaza.

Qatar plays a key role in mediation efforts aimed at reaching an agreement to end the ongoing war on Gaza for nearly two years and to put an end to the suffering of more than two million Palestinians in the besieged enclave.

Last Tuesday, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari stated that Israel has not yet responded to the proposed agreement submitted by mediators last month regarding a ceasefire in Gaza, and called on the international community for a unified stance to stop Israel, especially with the increasing Israeli statements regarding imposing control over the occupied West Bank.
