The occupation army approves an emergency plan to transfer troops to the occupied West Bank.

The Israeli army approved a "contingency plan" on Thursday that allows for the transfer of forces from other fronts to the occupied West Bank in the event of attacks during the current September, as part of the response to the annexation plan that the occupation intends to implement in the West Bank.

The Hebrew Channel 14 reported, citing unnamed sources, that the Minister of War of the occupation, Israel Katz, was the one who requested the preparation of the plan, which was approved by Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir.

The plan stipulated a "freeze on operations in the Gaza Strip and the movement of forces towards the West Bank if the latter experiences attacks, with the aim of controlling the situation."

The channel added that the security establishment considers this month to be sensitive, especially as it coincides with the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, and the developments that may arise related to the recognition of a Palestinian state.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced on Wednesday the intention of the occupation to annex 82 percent of the area of the West Bank to its sovereignty, emphasizing the necessity of "preventing the establishment of a Palestinian state."

Earlier, the head of the occupation government, Benjamin Netanyahu, instructed his ministers not to talk about their efforts to annex the West Bank, and to "keep quiet" about the matter, for fear that U.S. President Donald Trump might withdraw his support for the step, according to Hebrew media.

The newspaper "Maariv" quoted informed Israeli sources as saying that the issue of imposing sovereignty over the West Bank "is being managed very quietly, without public statements."

It stated that Netanyahu "instructed the ministers to minimize discussion as much as possible" about imposing sovereignty over the West Bank.

It clarified: "The reason for this secrecy is that Israel fears Trump, despite being considered a friend of Israel, may retract his silent support that his administration recently provided for construction in the E1 area, and even opposes any step to impose Israeli sovereignty."

It continued: "In Israel, they understand that prioritizing with the U.S. administration places the issue of imposing sovereignty at the back, not at the forefront, certainly."

It added that "the United States is primarily required to provide support for Israel in the campaign against Gaza, and in its activities against Syria and Lebanon."

Last August, the far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced the approval of a settlement plan in the "E1" area that would separate Jerusalem from the West Bank.

According to Hebrew media, Smotrich's approval revives the "E1 project," which has been stalled for decades under international pressure, as it is considered a strategic barrier to the establishment of a Palestinian state, and means that Israel is pushing towards the annexation of the occupied West Bank.

"E1" is a settlement plan aimed at connecting occupied Jerusalem with a number of Israeli settlements located east of it in the West Bank, such as Ma'ale Adumim, by confiscating Palestinian lands in the area and establishing new settlements, preventing any potential Palestinian expansion.
